Sunrise Supermarket 上頂超市 — Attraction in Knoxville

They have the Worst behavior ever. About a week ago I bought a fry pan from their store. I also bought some fish and some vegetables. They handed me the pan with all the fish and the vegetables in the pan instead of give them in a bag. I didn't say anything. I came back home and got the fish and the vegetables out of the pan but the pan was stinking because of the fish got in there. So washed the pan with normal water. At night my husband came from work and saw the fry pan but he didn't like it. So, he said return it. I said ok. Next day, I went to the store and wanted to return it but they refused to take it back because I washed it and the seal of the pan was torn. They said that they don't allow returning used things. I was explaining them what happened but the owner of the store got mad at me. He was misbehaving with me while I was explaining. After arguing a while, at one point the owner was saying " get outta my store. I told you we don't take back used things" He tried to touch me even though I am a women. I love this place! My favorite shopping experience in all of Knoxville. They have everything Asian, and then some. So much in such a small place that it's difficult to believe and sometimes overwhelming. What amazes me is the variety, including fresh produce, tropical fruits, every conceivable Asian sauce known to man in 10 different varieties each, bamboo shoots, fish, and things you simply can't get anywhere else in town, and then there's the super friendly and helpful staff, and as an added bonus - the prices are awesome! Just today, I got 4 kinds of fresh mushrooms, Fuyu persimmons (0.99 /lb), cardamom seeds (yes the whole pods, not just ground up powder), ginger, fresh poblano peppers, jack fruit, plantains and mamey sepote, and as I get to the register I'm thinking this is going to be $100, and it's only $38!!!! OMG! I'll forgo the fancy baroque music and shiny potpourri atmospheres for this place any and every day of the week! Did I mention they have everything? Woks, steamers, every kind of fish, and just so much. Honestly, this has made eating a heart healthy diet so much fun! Thank you Sunrise...

Ken, one of the managers, almost puts his hands on my waist. With brutal honesty, were this the streets, he’d be a dead man but because it isn’t, I then had to ask a grown man to say excuse me. Instead of responding in any way remotely acceptable of a living creature, he stupidly said I wasn’t cut out for the job, and I had to go.

I had to actually talk to nearly every member of the staff about their manners. Heather, a cashier also came right off the bat insulting and abusing me, and Mengki(unknown spelling) actually outright put her hands on me as well. Not a single one of them responded in any appropriate manner when confronted, instead challenging, questioning, and even laughing at me. This behavior is both dangerous and illegal.

Do be aware also of their predatory hiring process, “training” a cashier at first for $9/hour without any specified time frame to when one will become a “full cashier” for $12/hour.
