For a large wedding reception in a post-industrial hall with wooden beams and a large stage, this venue delighted. The caterer produced excellent southern regional cuisine (grits in Manhattan type glasses with optional toppings of cheese, shallots and bacon bits; green beans in garlic, chicken gently barbecued on sticks, excellent steak sliders, andouille slices, grey gravy ...). We had an open bar indoor and out (thanks, kind hostess) with smooth service and good selection of wines and spirits. Outdoors the rain held off for us to dally over nicely designed wicker furniture with both high tables and easy chairs. Indoors there were round tables plus a central very long straight table for the largest bridal party I have every seen. The stage was large enough for three singers and a multi-piece band from Atlanta. In front, there was room for a "flash mob" line dance of two dozen people, two deep, led by a bridesmaid. Sorry, not being in the organizing of this, I do not know what costs or options exist for caterers and other services. We were forewarned that parking was extremely limited, though we were able to pull up right outside on a Saturday afternoon. There was a train horn quite loud and close to the venue, but it did not happen during the function. Best of all was a view from the garden up at a wall mural/billboard advertising a gun shop with lessons - just to round off the Southern experience for one of our group on his first trip...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place suffers from the same problem that the now defunct Valarium did. Poor security from AXIS. Ashley Capps boasted about how great they were in an email to me, but I disagree. Out of all the hundreds of people taking photos/videos I was clearly targeted and told to stop. My video proves it, it shows the security guy approaching me passing numerous people videotaping the concert. There is literally a woman next to me recording a video, and the security said nothing to her, or any of the other numerous people he passed through the crowd making his way to me. Why was I targeted? We may never know, but the video does not lie and clearly shows they permitted people to record cell phone video throughout the entire concert and said nothing to anyone else around me.
I saw one cop parked at the front door, and no security whatsoever in the parking areas. This means you have to walk downtown at 11pm at night to your car after the event, and the "bad guys" know you just left an event that does not permit firearms and are vulnerable.
Just like I never went back to the Valarium, I will also never return to this venue. And Mr. Capps, if you ever read this, sort the reviews by lowest score and you will see other complaints about this security company as recently as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs someone who had never been to concerts before, The Mill and Mine was a perfect place to start! The venue felt very safe and was very clean. Staff are always kind, helpful, and typically have a sense of humor which can make waiting in a line a lot more entertaining haha! The venue is large enough to not feel crowded, but small enough that when an artist is performing on stage, it still feels kind of intimate and you feel like you connect to the band a little more. Really could not have been happier with my experience here! I attended my first ever concert here (Orville Peck) and liked it so much that I attended my second one just a few months later (Declan McKenna)! Both visits were amazing and now I regularly check The Mill and Mineās website for...
