Here’s a list of the multiple glitches (numbered below) that I encountered in my recent experience with Home Depot:
I ordered a grill for assembled pickup, but (1) Was never informed when it was ready.
(2) There was no record or status of the order on their website when I typed-in the order #.
(3) I downloaded the Home Depot app and it didn't work. I typed-in my order # and there was nothing - no notification that my item was assembled and ready for pickup, therefore I couldn't even let them know I was coming or where I parked for them to load the item into my van.
I picked it up, got it home, and discovered (4) No power cord, (5) No assembly tools that I might need later - to tighten anything loose, etc, (6) Scratches indicating it was a floor model, and (7) No user manuals.
I called, willing to drive 10 miles again to pick up the missing items, and (8) It took about an hour to resolve. I was the one making suggestions to resolve these problems, not the employee. "Can you open a boxed item and give me its power cord and user manuals?" - their answer, "Let me check on that."
I’m not a difficult person, evident in that I paid for an out-of-its-box item at the new-in-box price, was willing to keep it (scratches-n-all), and even drive back to pick up the missing items.
Trusting Home Depot with this $2,000+ purchase should have gone much smoother. I’m very conflicted about what happened, and wonder if individual customers get treated differently from their...
Read moreWell hey, just to pass along a fantastic experience in a retail store – I like reviewing the positives as well as the negatives. I just had a wonderful experience collecting information about the contractor that installed my vinyl sliding glass door (which was a FANTASTIC experience - especially when I had no idea what in the heck I was doing!!!) It was with a store manager (Albert) at Home Depot. This guy went above and beyond to help me out and he was just a very nice guy. A very very nice guy, and it was not a “put-on”... it came from inside,m. I don’t know what this man makes as far as salary, but I can tell you it’s not enough! [If Albert reads this, Thanks so much!] This guy himself is why I will never go into another competitor's store instead of this one. I could tell that he was personally and GENUINELY pleased to help me out - and this will not go unnoticed! I sincerely hope everyone else has the same experience when they hire a contractor, and I hope someone from corporate reads this and understands this store is by which other stores should be judged. UPDATE: Yet ANOTHER wonderful experience. The lady in charge of the districts Home Depot contractor projects is fantastic. She totally arranged and organized for them to come out and replace the screen door on a sliding glass door I had installed by Home Depot. She was totally helpful and friendly. I hope she reads this! Read moreJanine the manager from Home Depot is terrible in incompetent. I tried to return a dishwasher I bought and she refused to return it even though it was within the 48 hrs she tried to say it was non returnable because that’s considered buyers remorse. The dishwasher was dented, they sent out a incompetent installer from TEAMCO. She instead tried to say they can only replace the door. Replace a door? Why would I want a defective model? I had to file a complaint through the better business bureau and come to find out all that was BS. She just didn’t want to return it because according to corporate the manufacturers just give them a hard time to return it. So pretty much customer satisfaction isn’t a priority to them. This is just a short summary of it all, she refused to return it for weeks. Finally after they approved the return after weeks, they sent out the installer at 6:30AM on a Tuesday. It feels like a setup, they aren’t even open at that time and it’s during a pandemic. That’s very unprofessional, I had no phone call informing me it was going to be so early. Seems like she had a personal vendetta with me at that point. So let’s see how long it takes for them to refund...
