LaGrange Art Museum is located within a late Victorian jailhouse which demonstrates all the unnecessary architectural detail of the period.
Its grounds contain a sculpture garden, while inside there are four galleries. These hold a small but important collection of around 500 contemporary American artworks.
Internationally-important artists such as Andy Warhol share the wall space with Georgia artists including Lamar Dodd and Mildred Thompson.

   Read moreThis is a great little place to visit. I went to see an exhibit of Frabel glass on loan from Atlanta. The glass pieces were amazing, with such attention to detail. Some were realistic while others were more "quirky." On sale were some in the shapes of ornaments. It would be great if this museum were larger in order to house more than one exhibit at a time, but perhaps that has happened previously. I will keep checking to see what new exhibits are...

When we got there the door was open and a woman quickly approached us to tell us they’re closed to set up some sort of children’s show.
