I was asked for my card for a $20 incidental fee/hold and when I checked out I had two charges - one for $20 and one for $80. I asked the clerk at the desk about it and she assured me both would fall off. Another day passed and the $20 charge was no longer there, but was replaced with a $76.92 charge as well as a $96.92 charge, along with the before-mentioned $80 charge. Totaling $253.83 of my money being held and me being unable to use it. I called the hotel before 8AM and was assured the sales manager would return my call that morning, and if not - that the clerk would return my call so that I could speak with their GM. When I had not received a call by 1:45PM I called again and was transferred to the sales manager who did not answer and I left a message. I called again 30 mins later to let the clerk know and she said everyone was in a meeting and no one was able to assist me. I finally did hear back from the sales manager as well as the GM, and neither could explain why this happened. I was charged for the room in error (I prepaid through Expedia, which I even mentioned to the clerk when checking in AND checking out) and that charge was refunded (but could take 7-10 business days). The other two charges are still a mystery, apparently. The GM asked me to contact my bank and when I tried to explain to her that they cannot do anything about pending charges she rudely said "LET ME FINISH" and that she handles this "all of the time" (why is this a recurring issue?). I did let her finish and did what she asked - I got a fax number from my bank for her to send a request to cancel the charges and, low and behold, my bank later called me to let me know they CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT PENDING CHARGES. I will certainly be sure to let everyone I know not to stay with this hotel. Hearing 'I understand' is infuriating because I am positive that everyone who is so understanding does not have a $253 hold on their bank account that was...
Read moreWe checked in on Monday . After unloading and getting things in rooms I checked the beds . Under the bed s there was a large amount of dust , cup, someone’s flip flops and trash. Then on to sheets , they were soiled down to the rubber cover which was also stained. Mold was in the bathroom. The coffee maker in both rooms had used coffee packs in the makers . I went to the front seat Tylor them the room was dirty. Finally the house man came and brought me sheets . He left the sheets for me to change my own room. . They did not clean the room and I had to go back to the front desk to try to get room sheets changed and room cleaned. Eventually sheets were changed but the room was not cleaned until the next day . The hotel manager said I needed to work with them and be polite , well , I tried that and you guys told me to change my sheets myself. I was also told Monday would be comped and that did not happen . This hotel has no microwave in room and no little breakfast bar and only offers a Starbucks small thing that’s not even open all day . Nothing for breakfast without a car. The fridge is a tiny thing that only works for 2 hours a time if that .no little freezer at all. This is just a very inconvenient hotel and the guest services people were playing on phones for the most part . The managerGM Chris wears untucked wronkled shorts so I guess that tells me something about his thoughts on cleanliness and professionalism. This hotel was much better but under new management and the management company and the Marriott Corp will not...
Read moreI stayed at this property on their second day in business, so clearly, everything was new and fresh. There was still some construction dust/dirt in the room, and especially on the floors/gym. However I'm confident that this will get cleaned up in the coming days as the team begins to manage the property. On the bright side, the Courtyard decor, lobby lounge areas, and rooms were modern and welcoming (see pictures).
The location of the hotel is in the middle of downtown LaGrange (if there is such a place). There are several good restaurants close by, and its immediately across from the city's iconic fountain.
My king room had a very comfortable bed, very large TV (perhaps 50"?), and a surprisingly comfortable lounge seat. The bath was well lit, with nicely modern fixtures and the standard Courtyard amenities. The desk area was on wheels, which is important to notice. In it's natural position, I felt it was too close to the TV to be comfortable. But moving it over to the lounger was a wonderfully different story!
While operated by a franchisee and not Marriott corporate, the hotel staff had all clearly been trained in Marriott customer service values. This is a GREAT thing, as every single member of the staff that I spoke with, from the Houseman to the Front desk to the cafe were sincere, friendly, professional, and helpful.
While it's clear they are still working through some "opening issues," I'm confident that this property will be a great addition to the LaGrange area within the...
