Sweetland Amphitheatre at Boyd Park — Attraction in LaGrange

Everything about this venue is fantastic, EXCEPT that they ramp up the volume too much. It's completely unnecessary. Even young people - my children in their 30's - can hardly stand it and have left concerts because their ears hurt. If their ears hurt, you can be sure it is damaging their ears, their hearing. It is a serious health hazard that is being allowed because the damage is not immediate, and because management believes this is what people want. And people don't want this! Shocking that the ushers liberally hand out ear plugs at every concert. They are well aware of this problem.

I want to go to the Nelly concert, actually have tickets, but I will likely stay 10-- 15 min and be forced to leave. This is so unfortunate. I challenge the management to dig into this and find out what others are truly thinking. Measure the decibels during the concerts. Our ears are important organs. The venue is nice & clean. I just happened to go online to make sure if there were any rules different from other lawn venues I had attended. The website did state 12" which would be beach chair. I bought a beach chair that accommodated my weight specifications. Later a man walking around with a stick with a piece of tape wants to measure the chairs began harassing people. If you were allowed to enter the venue with your chair Why do you have to be harassed by "Stick Guy"? If you choose to purchase lawn seats for whatever reason & is allowed to enter plus noone is complaining of an obstructed view what purpose did he serve disrupting you while you are attempting to enjoy the entertainment. The venue is lovely. The artists are GREAT but do NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON VIP bands!!! Tonight I paid $80 for two bands. We got there an hour before the show. The pitiful amount of food available was covered with flies. I asked if there were anymore chocolate chip cookies…and was told they do not replenish. I moved to the “bar” and asked for a Coke and was told it was $2.00. Drinks were NOT included in the $40!! How absurd and what a rip off!!! I heard another angry customer say he got a refund because there was NOTHING available when he went in 20 minutes before the show. I was told it was to be open during the entire concert.
