Chua Quang Minh or the Vietnamese Buddhist Temple is a true oasis for Dhamma followers and spiritual folks alike in the middle of the city. Although it’s a Mahayana Buddhist temple, the main Abbott, venerable Thich Minh Hahn, welcomes all traditions and religions with open arms and a warm heart. Come here for the Sunday prayer or the free delicious lunch afterwards or just drop by on a weekday evening to meditate on your own, you will always meet smiling and welcoming volunteers who will assist you with your requirements. The lunar new year is one of the fun times to visit the temple for its festivities, good food & overall lively atmosphere.
Beside the religious activities, this temple is also big on donating food to homeless shelters on weekly basis as well as donating money to other charitable organizations to alleviate human suffering.
Between 2020-2022 COVID pandemic, the temple has donated hundreds of ration kits to families in India and Nepal. Moreover, the temple runs 3 free schools in Bodhgaya, India for underprivileged children for past 15 years. Be assured that your donations to this temple will be used for a worthy cause !!
The temple management has provided refuge in the adjacent building for Vipassana meditators for hosting weekly group sits and one day courses for meditators who have completed 10 day vipassana courses as taught by S N Goenka.
All in all, if you are in the Ravenswood neighborhood, drop by and experience the peace yourself - such serene places do help one to rekindle the gentle flame of peace within !
May all beings be happy, healthy...
