Recently discovered this beach after I was down the street at Hollywood Beach(?). I couldn’t find parking so I parked north and passed Lane Beach. I’m so happy I did!! I almost didn’t want to give away this small (somewhat secretive) beach! There’s always space on the beach- it’s always clean, and I literally don’t have any complaints. Most people are very respectful- there is a lifeguard. Water is warmer because it’s like an inlet. Don’t walk on the rocks (them lifeguards are very on their game hahaha). No pets or floaties are allowed in the water from what I’ve noticed. I go every Sunday now. Keep in mind that there is NO parking. Park on Broadway...
Read morePopular beach so get there early to grab a spot. The rainbow watchtower would suggest that the beach caters to the gay community, but anyone should feel comfortable and welcomed here. There are lots of good looking gay men in tight trunks/speedos running around and the chicago skyline makes for beautiful scenery. The beach is pretty big and the water is fairly shallow for up past the end of the pier. Weekends and holidays are way busy so good luck getting a good spot. Labor day marks the end of the season so any swimming after the holiday will not have a life...

Two or 3 years ago it was a spacious, well maintained little beach that was connected to the much bigger Kathy Osterman beach via a decently wide stretch of beach. Not any more because that stretch of beach has since been washed away by the waves and disappeared.
