We arrived later than expected at about 9:30 PM. We were told “isn’t that a bit rude”. Which was referring to how we hadn’t been texting that day with the owner. Again, we’re traveling. Anyway, the information online states let them know if you’ll be there after 11PM. Ok, maybe the owner was having a bad day. We saw the place, hurried and then went about our evening.
We maybe stayed a total of 6 hours in our room. After an evening out we returned for breakfast, only to see the “bed and breakfast” is actually just prepackaged hostess muffins, unwrapped, out under glass. Cool, we went and got some real breakfast elsewhere. We returned and logged into our Netflix account on their tv. We fell asleep and woke up late. My partner immediately texted the owner. He explained we would be out asap. It was 30 minutes past our check out. The owner made it seem like the cleaning people were on their way, but as long as we get out no big deal. We rush out. Only to get into our vehicle and receive a text stating we will be charged for an additional day. If that’s the case we could have stayed, but the codes were changed. Really?! A whole day because of less than an hour? So we go about our Sunday. That evening we get back into our Netflix. The owner or person who cleans rooms, deleted 3 of our 5 accounts! What a silly malicious thing to do! This owner is unprofessional, rude and requires you send personal information via text (identification, covid vaccination cards etc.) I wouldn’t care about any of this, if he were just reasonable with us. Why would someone delete our Netflix accounts? That’s destruction of our property, all while acting like we were super rude. Why didn’t we text him?’ Why didn’t he just send instructions like an air bnb or just tell us what was expected? No, he threw a fit, while I was still nice, explaining how we were busy and traveling and please forgive us for the grave mistake of arrival at 9:30 PM.
Please see all reviews! So many reviews are negative. How they unreasonably charged etc. Any way they can take extra money they do! The owner is rude and the food is sad. I’ve never had such a bad experience anywhere I’ve stayed. No hotel, motel, air bnb or actual bed and breakfast has an owner who treats people with such disrespect. Although my travels were great otherwise, do yourself a favor and don’t stay here. The owner isn’t rude because he had a bad day, this is who he is. He treats people with great disrespect and when people don’t like it, he treats the customer like we all did something wrong. We left late, a fee would have been acceptable. Not a whole other day, but rush us out only to over charge someone else too much for the night, while taking more of our money too. Also, deleting our Netflix accounts, that was decade of our algorithm. ...
Read moreThis place is a scam! We booked a reservation for House 5863 through Hotels.com for $300.08 plus a refundable $150 security deposit. We were then understandably surprised to find that we had been charged $515.10 ($65 dollars over the agreed-upon price, if you assume this included the security deposit). We reached out to Erick to see what was going on and he claimed there were extra fees for the room and that "every guest pays the same fees". In short, after some back and forth with Erick and then Hotels.com, during which we requested that our original price be honored, Erick went ahead and canceled our booking, without our consent, returning only the $150 dollar deposit and keeping the remaining $365 under the guise that we had canceled a nonrefundable booking (keeping in mind that we never asked to cancel). We have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and intend to sue if need be. Please avoid House 5863 at all costs and think twice about Hotels.com. We have been robbed by Erick.
You will notice that anytime someone posts a bad review, Erick claims that they were rude and that they have been banned from the property. The reality is that Erick is incredibly rude and a criminal. A few minutes after posting my first review, he called to yell at me over the phone. Apparently, he threatened another reviewer with putting their driver's license info up on the...
Read moreMy wife and I made a reservation at House 5863 through Expedia about a week and a half before we were set to stay there. We showed up at 3 pm on the date of our reservation to check in. We forgot to call ahead to schedule a check-in time, so no one was there to help us check in. Fine. When we got a hold of someone over the phone at the property, we were told that my credit card had been declined by Expedia and that my reservation had been canceled. The woman I spoke to wasn’t helpful, courteous, or understanding. We were also told that we should’ve gotten an email from Expedia letting us know that my card had been declined. I never got an email from Expedia stating this. I’m the type of person that goes through every email in my inbox and spam folder, so I didn’t miss it. That card has also never been declined before or since, soI was suspicious. I then followed up with Expedia to see whether they had declined my card. Expedia didn’t say that they had declined the card, and they attempted to contact House 5863 three times over the course of three days to sort out the matter. Expedia was never able to get in touch with anyone at the property. In short, my wife and I were left without a place to stay and had to scramble to find another place, which as you can imagine, was quite stressful! I would not recommend attempting to...
