I had the BEST experience from start to finish with The Good Couch. If you're looking for a hassle-free, easy couch shopping experience that also supports philanthropic causes, this is the place for you!
I came in to visit the new storefront in Lakewood after finding them online, and Patrick and some other guys there were super friendly showed me around and explained their process: when they get couches in, they clean them up really well and re-stuff the cushions if needed. They post high quality pictures on their website and also include details like color, measurements, number of pieces, and fabric type so you have all the info you need for an informed purchase.
All I needed to do was check the website regularly, and when I found the couch I wanted, I was able to immediately purchase it online with a credit card so I didn't have to worry about it being bought out from under me. If you don't have time to check the website regularly, you can sign up for notifications when a couch comes through that matches what you're looking for. Oh, and did I mention the prices are super affordable considering the quality of what you're getting?
Delivery was even more awesome - mainly because it was free, but also because of the delivery team. Jake and David were cheerful, communicative, and friendly, and they treated our new couch and our home with care and consideration as they moved everything in. Not only this, but there was a huge snowstorm happening at the time and they did everything safely and efficiently. We also had some bad timing, as the weekly recycling came by as they were moving things in, and they hustled through unshoveled snow packs to get our recycling bin to an accessible area for the city truck so that it wasn't missed (and they pulled it up our driveway when it was emptied!). Overall, the whole process was stress-free and easy, not something you often get when shopping for used furniture.
Cannot say enough about this place!...
Read moreI first came across this showroom when I was looking for a recliner for my brother who has no patience for shopping, no sense of style, and no clue as to what constitutes a good deal on the elements of outfitting an interior space. I brought him here and showed him two different leather recliners that were quality pieces of furniture and would fit his living room, and could've served to anchor the space. The only other piece of furniture he owned, only because it was given to him, was a bed, and thankfully he wasn't thinking of placing the recliner in the bedroom. But he couldn't be bother to look at them for what they were (high quality, previously owned, cleaned and refurbished), and priced they way they were a bargain compared to what they cost originally. A couple of days later he drags me to AFW, and sees what he wants. The only input I could offer was, if you want that, get it. Nearly two years later, irrespective of the 60"TV that sat on the floor until I bought him a stand and a sound bar for xmas, it was the only piece of furniture in his living room. Because it was a crap piece of furniture, and because he is in it whenever he's home, this point it looks like he'd pulled it out of a dumpster. I on the other hand, returned to this wonderful shop of well-made, previously cared-for, upholstered pieces, and bought this wonderful small scale love seat for my billiard room (LoL, my living room which is dominated by the pool table in it's center), which is the perfect scale, and full grain and pigmented leather (though I will be taking it a shade darker with an undertone of deep red (Rub and Restore's Mahogany). It is one of the most comfortable pieces I have ever reposed upon, I fully anticipate it will outlive me, and including delivery was just over $200! If you're in the market for upholstered furnishings, you'd be foolish not to come and check...
Read moreFor years, I've been searching for a place to donate worn (but still salvageable) furniture. Most donation centers I have looked into only accept lightly used items, and it always felt wrong using junk removal services for pieces that just needed a little love. The Good Couch was able to take all four pieces of furniture that I inquired about, which were all damaged and/or showed the wear and tear that results from a life with pets.
Damian and his team had to navigate a tricky set of steep stairs and tight corners, and were in and out in under 20 minutes. They were efficient, professional, and just genuinely kind and friendly people. They do give a relatively large pickup window, but I got texts and calls the day of pickup, so I was never left wondering when they'd arrive.
Anyone in these reviews complaining about being charged after reading about free pickups obviously read about one sentence on the website and did zero further research. Their site clearly specifies that they charge for outdated or damaged furniture, and they provide a quoted cost upfront. For my items, they charged $190 to haul everything away and cover the cost of refurbishment. Frankly, this was a bargain compared to what I've paid for junk removal services in the past. If you have furniture that's too worn to sell/donate but too good to trash, I highly...
