We have been hearing about this market for several years but have never made it over to the Chicago Market, today was the day! The people who work there are so kind! My husband is a Czech immigrant and he thought he was in heaven, it felt like home to him. Especially when the owner Vaclav spoke Czech and was so excited to share samples of all the amazing delicious meats and sausages that reminded him of home. Vaclav told us that the meats are made by Belmont Sausage Company by the Tatra Highlander people which is where Vaclav and his friend in Chicago are from. This is his homeland, in the mountains on the border between Czechia and Poland. All the samples we tried were so fresh and smelled delicious! Vaclav told us he brings these meats directly from Chicago. He goes there and brings these foods in a refridgeration truck to bring these delicious meats to us here in Colorado. We shared a beer, some liquor and some turkish coffee with cardemom and fresh delicious honey. We bought so many things he even gave us a discount. The more we bought the more we saved. We also bought kaiser rolls which were fresh frozen and once defrosted were very fresh tasting, I was suprised. We also got perogi's and sauerkraut which my father in law says is the best he ever had! We highly recommend checking out Chicago Market! We can't...
Read moreOk If you are polish, were raised by polish people, or have ever loved someone polish, this is a must visit. I will not ask if you ever ate polish food. Of course you did. We feed people. It's in our thing!
First off, the meats and everything else will amaze you. Fresh. With those amazing smells that make your mouth water.
The selection of pierogi alone is worth the visit. (Mushroom sauerkraut?) Also an array of sweet pierogi, plum? Cherry? Apple.... whimper.
They carry horseradish in three levels. The one with beets for the littles, the white for the grown ups, and a second white with a red lid, when you feel you have something to prove. Not for the weak.
Spices. All manner of snacks. Black Forest torte? Yes sir! Their deli department is simply evil. No rainbow iridescence here. The Good stuff. Polish ham? God yes!
Fresh kielbasa. if you know, you know! We were late, so their bread selection ( fresh baked) was low. Pickled mushrooms. Whimper.
So much good stuff! The staff are friendly and kind. And they accept EBT. I need to fly home now...dinner is gonna be awesome!
Oh...and they close at 3 on Sundays, 6 I think on other days. Run,...
Read moreI absolutely love this store. My husband brought me here because I was missing Chicago, and now it's one of my "places." There are dry goods (chips, cookies, candy, jams, teas, spices, mixes, pickes, juices, waters, etc.). I found our new favorite mustard here - Hořčice (brown mustard with a hint of horseradish).
They have frozen and refrigerated goods (pierogis, cakes, breads, soups, sauces, sausages, cheese). I love their pickle soup!
The deli counter is the place to hang out and they will let you try what you like, plus there are usually things out on the counter they are giving samples of. The breads are fresh and soft, and the meats and cheese are top notch.
Vaclav and Kryzstina are the owners and are incredibly generous, friendly people. Even if you're not Polish or Eastern European, you are welcome! English is spoken, Polish is spoken, and Armando at the deli speaks Spanish. It's such a fun, friendly store. I go in without a plan, and come out with having had great conversations and lots...
