First visit. Very impressed. Large, clean grocery. A Meijer store, but grocery only. No pharmacy. Have a health/beauty aisle. Very nice coffee shop area. Closes oddly at 5pm. Lots of space/seating. All grocery sections had large selection. Ample street prkng & a lot directly South of store. Prkng lot has 3 sections. Store prkng rite outside the door. Further prkng for apts above store. Marriott hotel prkng, adjacent to the East. Lot has 2 electric vehicle chrgng spots. Also a carpeted small dog pooping area. Very convenient. Street prkng probably more difficult on baseball game nites. Reviewers have complained abt: walking, some also saying story was small; others, was large. It's a large grocery Only. Many Americans tend to be lazy. Walking is minor issue. Restrooms clean/modern in this newer store. Excellent WiFi. Store closes at 10pm. No problem with any beggars or predators. Did not see any.
Follow up visit. Took time to explore. This Meijer store has national items. But it also has a very strong Michigan made and locally sourced selection of products. For example: 2 local honey, beef, dips, produce, kimchi, ice cream & many more. Many lunch ready items. Two microwaves in coffee shop for heating. One hr time limited coffee shop. Noted this time, there's no serviced deli area. Still, with the local and specialty items, this is an impressive store.
UpDate: July '21. Stopped in at 8am opening for java & a bagel. Also got brkfst sandwich in grocery. Only 1 of 2 microwave ovens is wrkng now. Very friendly coffee shop ppl. Appears coffee shop is independent of the grocery. Was approched by young hustler in men's restroom. Not a threat. Shd have reported to the store. Didn't. I did tell them abt 2 wks later. This hustler was well disguised as a shopper. Stay alert. Keep your stuff with you.
UpDate: Aug 15, '21. Sun, afternoon baseball game. Store prkng was Ok. In coffee shop for awhile. Mid-afternoon. Fairly heavy shopping traffic. Coffee shop was like a pig thru a snake. Abt 15 tables. Not more than 1/2 full. Apparently a lot of neighborhood denizens. Ppl at 4 diff tables came & went while visiting one another. Older ppl, not students. So, it's a gathering place for locals? After 15-30 mins ppl cleared out. Tables almost empty again. Store & coffee shop seem to be thriving. Very friendly & efficient coffee shop service. When afternoon baseball game was over; there was no noticeable increase in store traffic. A little surprising. Ppl were just looking to leave the...
Read moreWow! Amazing! Beautiful produce. Regular Meijer items like toilet paper and pet food. Tons of Michigan made products from wine to baked goods. Nice coffee bar and Sushi bar. Awesome gift area with books, candles, mini succulents, flowers. I really enjoyed the shopping trip! It definitely didn't feel like a Meijer - more like a cooler Whole Foods. Picked up some chocolate covered coffee beans and Fresh baked goods from Detroit and other good stuff. Will definitely be going back!!!! Oh and bonus - MPerks and coupons work here. Whoever dreamed up this concept is a marketing genius! And I must add that I usually hate shopping but this shopping trip felt like a much needed fun night out. I parked on Michigan Ave but there's lots of parking out back with it's own entry and exit. The carts are a bit weird if you park on Michigan Ave. They lock up at a certain point - underground magnets or something - and you can't push the cart to the street. SciFi and weird. Staff was great. One of my items didn't scan right away and an an employee immediately helped. And while I was paying, she bagged my groceries. On the way out, I got a free...
Read moreI am happy to say that the negative reviews I read were not true. The prices of the grocery items, produce, were either the same, or very close to the prices in any Meijer store. One review said they thought they would have to pay 10$ to park in the parking lot if they had parked and gone in! I knew that wasn't true before I got there! You do not pay any amount to park in the lot! It seemed a lot larger inside than I thought it would be . I use the amigo carts. I found at least 4 as I entered the back door. A pleasant place to shop with many extra special items for many different tastes, along with the usual food and items. One problem could be that, as far as I could tell. They only have self service check-out lanes. Some folks may not like them, or not know how to use them. I can use them but it's been along time since I have. A friend I was with helped me. I'd say just give it a try, if you're interested! Next time I'll check out the deli, coffee, and...
