Me and my friends came to try the sliders. Once we entered in the doors, no one was there to seat us. We assumed it was a “seat yourself” deal BUT after waiting, eventually a server came up to us and sat us. That same server tells us he will be taking care of us, and mentions that it is his second day working here, which wasn’t a problem. He comes back, takes our orders. We waited a reasonable time for our food. As he brings us our food, I noticed half of my food is missing (he only put in one slider, yet I ordered 2 and small fries). I tell him and he said he forgot, and apologized. The problem is, he wrote everything down and everything I ordered was in his note pad. I had to wait to get the rest of my food as my friends were finishing theirs. The food was average, it’s a place where you go to get drinks first, then the food to soak up the alcohol. He comes back with the rest of my food and my friend asks if they have coke or Pepsi products, he didn’t know the answer and had to go ask..I’m not even a server and I know that’s one of the things you should know. We could all tell he had no background experience in serving, which is unfortunate for the business! They should have trained him properly before putting him on the floor by himself. He gave no refills, my cup was empty for at least 30 minutes until we had left. I had also put in a Togo order and he forgot one slider, yet I told him two and he wrote it down! So then we had to wait another 15-20 minutes for him to bring out the Togo order (as we were already waiting for it). I checked to make sure everything was correct and as I check the sliders I see there’s bacon bits! Not even strips of bacon. At that point, we wanted a manager so I asked someone behind a bar. The manager came, he was very nice and helpful. He told me he will see what he can do. When he came back, he said because the server closed the tab that my meal would be on him. I appreciated how well he handled the situation, since we were listing off multiple things we were not pleased about the service we received. There’s more but this review is already lengthy. Maybe eventually I will come here again, but for now I...
Read moreI'm a 10-year Lansing resident, and have been to a plethora of well-loved restaurants in the area, both new and old. While I would have to be convinced to consider a second trip, I can't deny that my first trip to Sidecar was the lowest point of my restaurant experience in recent memory. The barrel-aged old fashioned was sweeter than the blueberry gin cocktail served to another table guest, and completely overshadowed the bourbon that it features on the menu. The coconut shrimp was sweet and limp, neither adjectives I'd ascribe to appetizers I'd recommend. The server, in their admitted first shift at the newly-opened restaurant, couldn't distinguish between the sliders he served to the table, the first batch of which weren't even for our table. And after failing to procure one of the rounds of sweet potato fries, he brought two incorrect orders of waffle fries and russet fries after being reminded each time. While the fries were fine, the sliders were either half-eaten or had only one bite taken out by the end of the meal—the entire table was unimpressed. And at the end of the meal, the server hadn't kept track of who ordered what, so he invited someone at the table to come to the register and help him sort it out. All of this in the course of a two-hour meal in which over an hour was spent waiting for the correct sliders to come out of the kitchen. They were busy and, I assume, understaffed. But I hope that this management helps train their waitstaff and shores up the food quality in the future. If not, Green Dot Stables down the road serves up great food at a...
Read moreSince the Bacon Fest was a bust, didn't get tickets. We decided to try something new. Sidecar Sliders was our choice. Wow!! Wrong choice...our waitress was nice the two times we saw her. We tried to get her attention...her finger went up, "Wait, I'll be there in a sec." Since we were not drinking alcoholic beverages all of our drinks ran dry most of the meal. Asked for refills, yup, you guessed it, finger went up, "Wait, I'll be there in a sec." Eventually we got refills from the hostess, great guy! Oh Yeah, he brought us our food as well and all of our dipping sauces. Now, let's talk food. $5.25 for a tiny burger (slider) they dress it up with sauces and various other toppings but in my opinion, not really worth the money. Kinda dry, no real flavor to the meat, hence all of the toppings. Order a small order of onion rings and cheese curds, $6 something each, 5 total onion rings, they were ok and a handful of curds. Most of which had very little to no actual cheese in them. I usually give places a fare shake if they are super swamped or short staffed but we walked right in and got a seat. We won't recommend this place to anybody, if you do go, be sure not to sit by the patio door, the staffed asked my wife a couple of times to open the door for them because their hands were full. One last thing, bring cash, they have an upcharge for using a card, yup... the second time we saw...
