I love Starbucks which is why I was thrilled when this location opened near my home. I enjoy going to Starbucks to work for a couple hours on weekends (change of scenery). In the couple weeks that this location has been open, today was the first time my drink has been made properly (FYI - I don’t drink complicated drinks…). This location has a very cool aesthetic inside of an old train station. The reason for my one star review. This location is always FREEZING cold. Like so cold I have to wear gloves to type. I have spoken to people sitting near me and they have expressed the same complaint. When I asked if there was any way they could do something about the temperature, I was told “No, corporate controls the temperature. Even if we adjust the thermostat nothing happens.” I find it HIGHLY unlikely that the corporate office in Seattle, WA is controlling the temperature in a leased space in central Michigan. I think the store manager or landlord more likely controls this issue. Side note - a lesson from my days in the restaurant business, many times employees will control the temperature because they get hot while working, which I get, but…it is about the guest/customer experience not the employee experience. I am not saying that people should tolerate bad working conditions but us customers are the ones paying for the product/ experience. After 4 different visits I’ve been leered at by staff, rushed through orders though the store is empty, and treated like dirt every time I go in. They follow me on IG. Like and share my posts. So why the discriminatory treatment in person?!
In addition to the bad behavior the “community art” portion of this business is bogus. The art on the walls are made by a Grand Rapids artist. There are globally renowned creatives in Lansing. Why isn’t their art here?! Why was I LIED TO about the art in this store? Do your research and you’ll see what I’m taking about.

Read moreWe have been here once before and the ladies that work there have been phenomenal. Today, my fiancée and I went in at 1:30pm and had a gentleman at the register. He was quite rude/off putting and did not greet us. The first phrase that he spoke to us was "yeah, what do you want". My fiancée then requested a peppermint mocha for me. The gentleman proceeded to say that the store was out of peppermint. This was not a problem; however, when my fiancée told him she will be right back because she had to ask me for a different drink request (I was saving us a table); he rolled his eyes. This made us leave the store. I understand that he may be having an off-day or bad day but it is unfair for us to be treated like this.
