Let me start by saying that I was desperately looking forward to this massage after a stressful month. I wanted to walk into a spa-like environment with relaxing scents, but instead, I was greeted by the smell of Italian food. Not a great first impression, especially with people eating at the front desk right in front of me.
We were taken to the “salt room,” which turned out to be a large room with a floor covered in hard salt. I wasn’t aware that we had to walk on it barefoot, which was painful. The massage beds were also covered in salt from our feet, making them uncomfortable. Speaking of the beds—they were portable, extremely hard, and had no heating, making the experience even more unpleasant.
I seriously doubt that the person who gave me the massage was a licensed therapist. In my experience, professional massages follow specific techniques, rhythms, and symmetry, where what’s done on one side of the body is mirrored on the other. This massage felt completely unstructured, like a friend randomly rubbing my muscles. There was no technique, rhythm, or consistency—she jumped from my feet to my back to my hands for 15 minutes, then spent only five minutes on one foot. It was not relaxing at all.
The massage was also painful in certain areas because she barely used any lotion, so it felt like dry skin dragging across dry skin. My feet are still hurting from the excessive pressure she applied. The last 20 minutes of the session were especially disappointing—she just pressed down on my body over the blanket and then placed her hands on my cheeks without moving them. To make matters worse, someone was drilling into a wall in the next room for the last 20 minutes.
On my intake form, I specifically requested no talking, yet she kept asking me about headaches, pressure points, and hot and cold compresses. I wanted to relax, not have a conversation. I was then charged regular price and needed to call for adjustment. This was, without a doubt, the worst $250 I have ever spent on a massage. If I could...
Read moreI've now been here twice. Both times were for a massage. I enjoyed the second massage much more than the first. Nicholas is amazing and he has the Strength that I need for a deep tissue. My only issue is that the add-ons are much higher than they are in other places. I think $25 for cupping is a bit much when there's a private massage therapist I've gone to that doesn't charge anything for it. I don't think essential oils should be an extra charge. I realize that's a preference but when it's all added up and you book a salt room massage and cupping and essential oils, by the time you walk out of there, you could've gotten a longer massage or a separate service. This review is a bit late as I was there in November but overall it is a good massage. I would book with Nicholas as I only had one other masseuse and I wasn't nearly as happy with her as I was with him. His personality is on point and his fingers are magic I'll definitely return, but I won't book the salt room again. I think it's a bit difficult to truly benefit from when your face is stuck into the Massage table. It's a beautiful ambience, but I don't think it's done a whole lot for me adding it onto the service. However, if you're looking for a deep tissue or even just a regular massage book, Nicholas, you won't be...
Read moreI was very intrigued when I heard about Salt Therapy and decided to check it out. I was injured in a car accident (7 herniated discs) and no longer sleep well, due to the pain. Also, the joints in my hands bother me a great deal from repetitive work. First of all, I want to say how much I have enjoyed meeting Karen, the owner. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I love her wellness shop, it’s clean, cozy and has an extremely relaxing vibe as soon as you walk in the door. Relaxing doesn’t come naturally for me so I found myself getting a little antsy my first session. I decided to sign up for a month membership and have also been doing the magnesphere and infrared sauna therapies as well. After the first day, I slept a little better than usual and my hands had vastly improved. After day 3 it was a dramatic improvement in my sleep and I can tell the inflammation in my body has gone down a lot. I’m so happy Karen decided to take a chance and open her business, even amidst a Pandemic. I encourage you to go and try the therapies yourself, you have nothing to lose… except perhaps pain, allergies,...
