Came here in September and applied for a WIOA grant for a phlebotomy program at NCC that started at the end October. I received an email from Margaret within a week, which stated that she received my information and that she will contact me the following week. The following week passed and I didn't hear anything back from her, no phone call nor email, so I reached out and she stated she was busy and she would contact me the following week. The following week came and still no response from her, no email or phone call, so I reached out again. That week passed and I decided to take my last $20 and drive across the city to find out what's going on and why I do keep getting told I am going to be contacted, but never hear anything.
As soon as I got there and signed in, Margaret was standing at the front desk and was able to assist me right away, which she asked questions and then was able to put me in for a zoom meeting to meet another agent who would screen me. That appointment time was set for 1:30p. At 1:32pm, I was able to log into Zoom, but no one was in the zoom meeting besides myself. I sat there for 5 more minutes thinking to myself that since 1:30p - 1:45p is MY time slot, then maybe someone would pop in. Nobody had popped in the zoom meeting. Then, at 1:40p (screenshot is attached).... I get a message pop-up that states I was removed from the room, however, nobody was in the room besides me. I do not that think that is fair at all because I am the one who has kept my word and been in communication, but it's okay that these agents can do whatever they please, whenever they please because they hold that power.
I spoke to the rep who was helping me at the school I was choosing to go to, and she had everything ready for Margaret and the Navigator. The proposal was ready and sent twice and Margaret was always fast to reply back to the School Rep, but could not do the same with me, which is very disrespectful. Then Margaret told the school admissions rep that I had missed the zoom meeting with the Navigator, even though I had a screenshot of me being in the room DURING the duration of MY allotted time slot appointment that I was given, which was 1:30p to 1:45p.
I also requested a supervisor in the email that I sent to Margaret, however, I was never given a call back or email from any supervisor, which shows me that they have a lack of urgency, compassion and concern for the ones who they "supposedly" are here to help with their future success.
Anywho, since I missed the enrollment process at the school, I gave it about a month and November I went back to One Stop Career Center and filled out another sheet for the WIOA grant in hopes that I would get another rep to help me as I requested for Margaret to do for me after her 3x of not keeping her word. However, it is now FEBRUARY and I have not received any call or emails in regard to my WIOA grant application.
This is very disgusting, especially since I had a WIOA grant in 2021, which Stephanie and Irene helped me out and it was NOTHING like this experience I've received since August of 2023.
What is the point of having or offering services like this to the community when your agents are lazy and can not communicate, have no type of compassion or care, lack of empathy. I feel saddened that folks who are supposed to help you get a job and training apparently don't care about doing their job.
We've had to submit the same ppwk multiple times, email multiple times, call multiple times for each step of the process. And the One Stop does not return calls or emails. To make any progress we have to physically show up every single time.
It is very disheartening that when we go to the One Stop center, the One Stop staff member is usually on the phone talking to her friend complaining on how awful her job is. She speaks on the phone loudly so everyone else in the One Stop office can clearly hear (including us) that she is spending work time to make personal calls. We've been there over a dozen times, dealing with the same rep. Every time she doesn't know who we are nor why we are there.
IDK if I see someone dozens of times for hours and hours...I tend to at least recognize them.
The center that we are getting training from was very upset when she heard that One Stop was waiting on her after attempting to call her. This training center has 5 phone lines and LOGS every call. Guess what? One Stop never called. Apparently when One Stop says "trying to call" it means they were trying to learn how to dial their phone. For the record we've called this training center and not sure what's going on, but One Stop's phones don't work? Because unlike One Stop's claims, we get through and get a live response from the training center every single time.
And yes this training center has also had to resubmit the exact same ppwk several times, because One Stop apparently never gets ppwk. The only way that this training center sends ppwk successfully is when they are on the phone with One Stop, saying I just sent it and I'm not hanging up until you open your email and confirm it's there. But that's assuming we get through to One Stop as almost all the time we get voice mail.
So this is 4 months in. If One Stop continues to stall the window for this process will expire and we'll have to start all over again.
I strongly suspect that the One Stop center is graded on how many folks give up or are denied training. That's the only explanation I can think of why this place does everything they can to stymie extremely qualified folks who want to work.
Is there any chance we can get the One Stop's rep job? If all I have to do is make personal calls all day and get paid, I'll gladly show up. Heck I might even process ppwk, and make work related calls.
We've also tried getting a different case worker but we were unsuccessful.
I really hope that someone in a position to provide motivation or training of their staff manages to read this...but I'm not holding my breath. We just want to have One Stop do their...
Read moreThis place has a terrible staff . Like so many other reviewers , the staff is very rude and condenseding when there is no need to be. They canceled my appointment an hour before I came in and made it a week later . They did not even apologize . Unprofessionalism. Then when I came in to the front desk the man there looked miserable and was very unfriendly . Horrible service . The only nice woman was Tanya at the computers where you register , but she was slow to help. a woman I saw naked Nelly said I would have to come back again because ase she is leaving in 5 days and training a new girl which is not mine or anyone else problem , they could have let me know that before hand instead of wasting my time. I was frustrated with the unproffesionalism . I filled out all my paper work and she said don't date it. You need to come back.what a joke. She asked the new woman Amanda when I should come back and she said I'm not taking any appointments right now, which makes me very suspicious of this place , something is not right there. They said we will call you . Just ridiculous and unprofessional and a very rude and unfriendly staff. Then the woman Amanda called me 2 days later for a appointment, she said come in a week later and everything sounded great becuase I already had a job but the job I was supposed to get , they wanted me to go through this place for certain reasons. Amanda calls me the next day telling me not to come back because they are not funding the money and moving the money around and will not help me with on the job training . She did not even explain to me what she was talking about when I asked . She just said call the person in charge at the job and talk to them. When I called them they couldn't belive what they said. This is a very unprofessional , terrible rude staff, not knowing what they are doing , they don't care about you at all. The word I can think of is stupidity at this place. They are not sorry for inconveniencing your day at all. I never heard the word I'm sorry to have canceled your appointment or to make you come back. Just ridiculous. This place is a joke. If you want to be around a rude staff who have chips on their shoulder this is the place for you. They wasted my time when I had important other things to do. I give this place a big 0.
