Lawndale Plaza — Attraction in Lawndale

I came to this shopping center for one reason and one reason only — to eat at Ocho Rios Jamaican Restaurant, and let me tell you, it was worth the trip! I actually came over here planning to go to Target afterward, but the real highlight of my visit was the food. If you like authentic Jamaican food, or even if you’ve never tried it before, you definitely need to stop by Ocho Rios while you’re here.

Me and my friends each ordered different dishes so we could taste a little of everything. I had the brown stew and some plantains, and it was so flavorful that I started rethinking my lifestyle choice of not eating meat for a second — it was that good! One of my friends ordered the oxtails, and she couldn’t stop talking about how tender they were. My other friend had the jerk chicken, and she loved the spice and how perfectly it was seasoned. The sides were on point too — rice and peas, cabbage, and festivals that were soft and sweet.

The food had that true island flavor — rich, perfectly spiced, and full of comfort. The portions were generous, the prices were fair, and the service was friendly. It’s one of those hidden gems you wouldn’t expect to find in a shopping center like this, but once you do, you’ll keep coming back.
