StarWest Computers — Attraction in Layton

Long version: Shawn's a beast of a repairman who knows his stuff!

Dropped my PC game dev beast of a machine that's worth more than my car off by 9:00 a.m. and he had it all fixed better than new (and no.. I'm not being cute, it was literally in better condition than when I bought it and had it custom built... brand new) by 12:00 p.m.

They had parts replaced that needed replacing (as in they don't just guess they actually know what to test, how to test, and replace something if it needs it. 10/10 on immaculate trouble shooting and diagnostics).

They reconfigured my computer, moved some parts around for better airflow, fixed the other issue with my liquid cooling set up. Reconfigured some things, updated some other things that were super out of date.

Temperatures staying below 40 degrees on higher performance demanding games (as apposed to pushing 75 before), made sure my ram sticks were set up good enough for baking scenes. Changed out the power strip (the main culprit of my issues!) whereas they could've easily charged me like 3-500 dollars by saying it's the mother board or something (so I know I can trust them/they're honest).

I even tried to give Shawn a tip for the remainder of my budget for repairs, which he politely declined and just said "Go leave us a review and it's payment enough."

SO HERE YOU GO SHAWN! All for you bud ;).

If I EVER have issues with my computers again, I'm definitely going here again.

I can’t say enough good things about my experience at StarWest Computers. The guy working there was super nice, down-to-earth, and actually helpful without trying to upsell me or make me feel like I didn’t know what I was doing.

Before coming here, my friend and I had shown our parts list to a couple other shops in the area (including one that tried to convince us to return everything and spend way more on stuff we didn’t need). But not here. This shop actually respected our choices. He took a look at the list, didn’t talk down on any of our parts, and just gave some helpful suggestions — like recommending a water cooler over a Master Cooler. It was a solid suggestion, but we let him know we’d stick with the one we had for budget reasons, and he didn’t push it at all.

He had a huge selection of graphics cards in stock and offered the best prices we’d seen anywhere — and we had been to several stores in the area. On top of that, he never tried to sell me anything unnecessary, didn’t require installation fees, and gave honest, neutral advice. He clearly knows his stuff and actually cares about helping people build what works for them.

We talked for a while and I left feeling confident and happy, not pressured or scammed like I did at the other places. I really appreciate the honesty and the way he runs his store. I hope the owner has tons of success — he deserves it. 100/10 experience. Highly recommend!

StarWest Computers has by far the best customer service and knowledge than any other local computer store I have gone to. Both in shop are always very friendly. I am somewhat new to building/upgrading my current desktops and sometimes I do not know exactly what cable I am in need of so I will explain what I am upgrading and what the part looks like and they always just know immediately what part I need. They do not make me feel dumb at all with some of the questions I ask ( PC noob here) they are very professional and explain in detail on every question asked.

My most recent visit I was in need of a SATA cable for a new internal WD Blue SSD because the cable it came with was a right angled SATA that would not fit next to the other SATA cables I had already plugged in so I was in need of a straight ended on both ends SATA cable. I was a little hesistant that the ASUS SATA cable they gave me would also be a little to large as it had secure latches on it but he ensured that it would fit and because I was a little uncertain he opened the pack and just gave me the cable! I will definitely be using StarWest again for all of my upgrade parts and cables! SUPPORT AWESOME...
