I come here for the Kayak launch and the Kayak trailer parking.
The kayak launch is very basic. It's not a ramp, its a ledge off of the concrete paver trail. Depending on the tide, the water level could be up over the ledge, or it could be a foot and a half lower then the ledge. Typically when I launch a kayak I end up standing in the water, here there is quit a bit of mud involved, especially in low tide. If launching here, be ready to stand in the mud. It's better suited to the lighter kayaks. Mine is very heavy and I load up with fishing gear and a cooler; with heavier kayaks its a bit of a challenge to load up and stay dry. Get some good water shoes so you don't loose them in the mud. If I were to make one suggestion to make the launch better, level the mud just under the ledge, and put some concrete blocks down to stand on in the water.
I'm a huge fan of the four parking spots designed for trailers. I have to pack my kayak on a trailer because its large and heavy. There are not many parking spots designed for kayak trailers. These spots are at the very end closest to the water. They make it very easy to pull up and get set up before launching.
I wish it opened up...
Read moreI've passed by this place more times than I can count. It's only about 5 to 10 miles from where I live. I've neve r stopped there, but my visit was an important one. My aunt on my mom's side lived with us for a long time. In 2018, she was told she was told she hadn't had had cancer. Now, she had it years ago but went into remission. It came back in 2018 and was doing good for a while. But then, in 2019, she was told it was getting worse. They did a lot of tests and some procedures, but it wasn't working. Ending Eventually, at one of her appointments, they told her it had spread to her bones and asked her how she wanted to proceed. Now, she already had a DNR in place. She never wanted to end up in a hospital hooked up to machines. So when the doctor asked what she wanted to do, she said she wanted to go into hospice. She's did great for a while, then begging of 2020, then things started to go bad. In the beginning of hospice, she wasn't doing bad. ano...
Read moreI have always enjoyed this park as it is such a hidden gem within the area. Not only is there a field for almost every sport, there is also bike and hike trials that lead you through the beautiful woods where you can see all kinds of Texas nature. Fishing is allowed but there is guidelines to follow so make sure to check up on that. Plenty of picnic tables for a beautiful picnic under some big oak tree covered shade. There is also a nice big dog park for you to take your pooch to stretch their legs and get some energy out. Plenty of ramps and large sidewalks for handicapable access. I recommend taking a visit to this park if you are in the area. Also a great spot for some lovely pictures, especially this time of year with all of the moss covered trees and water in...
