Mr. Sombrero Mexican Restaurant #2- WEST LEAGUE CITY — Restaurant in League City

A place I have been so many times but unfortunately tonight is the last time. Brought my friends and family here for my daughter’s 16th birthday dinner per her request. They acted irritated to have to put together tables for 23 people although they refuse reservations but I spoke with the owner, Alberto, and he agreed to it and was to leave a note for the hostess but tables not available when we arrived. Once seated and finally got all tables needed, things seemed to go good until someone didn’t like their food and the waiter said we had to pay for it no matter what. Two bites and the person said it was awful. Then, the ice cream cake for the 16th bday girl, was told to the hostess to put in the freezer ( Owner assured me there was a freezer for it) put the cake in a wine fridge so when we were ready for it, it was melted! You should’ve seen cutting into this cake to serve to people. Talk about a major disappointment! Your child only has their 16th birthday once with friends and family and Mr. Sombrero’s ruined it. I was told it was a mistake and they would pay for the cake. I don’t want money for the cake, I wanted the frozen cake I brought and for my daughter not to cry at her 16th birthday party. I will never go to this restaurant again and I hope others keep this in mind. It’s really sad that they could meet...

Here's my issue...

I'm all for being yourself and inclusivity or however you want to categorize it...however, I went into the women's bathroom, and when I came out of the stall, there was a younger male employee at the sink washing his hands. Not really sure why he felt the need to use a women's bathroom, (and after hours, fine cool, whatever) but I was definitely uncomfortable with it, but had to act like it was ok. Because what else am I supposed to do? There was no attempt to knock on the door to say "hey I gotta clean the bathroom" or any sort of work related reason he'd be in there. Just a dude at the sink washing his hands. Definitely not something I was prepared to see as I came out of the stall. I don't make this review to be derogatory to the lgbtq community in any capacity because this was nothing to do with that realm in any sort. So please don't take it that way.

I just dont understand why a male employee would be using the woman's bathroom during open hours when customers could be using the bathroom at the same time. He said sorry, which, ok, cool, thanks I guess? But also, don't do that maybe?

I will not be back here! The last time I brought a group of friends, they charged us more drinks than we had. After we tried to assist splitting the check and discussing with the staff, we eventually just payed for the extra margaritas without causing more of a fuss. This time, I placed an order to go shortly after we were exdone eating. They brought the check and I paid. 30 minutes later I asked where my to go order was. Another 30 minutes pass when I had to ask another staff member because they would not come back and by our table where my to go order was. And they brought it to me cold. When I questioned them about it they were upset that I wanted it remade. Even though the ticket on the to go order was time stamped an hour before they brought it to me. I have always loved this restaurant and the original location. I always recommend it. I will no longer recommend it to anyone. The service is terrible and it’s expensive.
