UPDATE: Owners reached out after the fiasco last year and offered a free-of-charge rain check. We took another group out last weekend (March 16, 2019) and had a really fun time at the River Market location with "The Gambler". Excellent room, fun staff, will come back again soon!

I had an 8-person reservation last Saturday (9/1/18) at 11:00 AM for a bachelor party. We had people traveling from out-of-town for the day - which this event was to kick-off. On the Friday evening beforehand the business sent a vague e-mail asking me to move my reservation with comments about 'opening late Saturday'. On prompting he mentioned they had to cancel all reservations Friday and would be opening late Saturday due to ongoing construction at the Park Place strip mall. I was not contacted via phone because my number on the reservation 'was incomplete'.
Needless to say, we did not notice until very late Friday that our plans had been cancelled and it left a gaping hole that set a bad tone for the next day. We were really disappointed. My money WAS refunded, but this was a 0-star experience.
Advice for business: Add a phone # validation on your website's order-entry page. This is a really basic thing.
Give as much warning as possible when things like this occur (if it was truly an unforeseeable circumstance).

We've done many rooms across the various Breakout locations, but recently we had a truly exceptional experience: we called Breakout KC asking if they had any rooms which would have a couple puzzles that one of our visually impaired group members would be able to do (i.e. tactile or auditory puzzles). Dave from the Park Place location went above and beyond and offered to specially convert one of the rooms for our group so that the entire room and all the puzzles within it were friendly to the visually impaired. Dave drove several hours the weekend prior to our arrival to pick up various props from a different Breakout location that he needed for the conversion. He then served as our guide during our escape and was extremely attentive making sure all members of our party were included and enjoying their time. Read moreWe made a reservation for 815 for our family of 8. Our dinner plans got out of wack, and we called to see if we could arrive earlier (about an hour earlier). They told us no, but then called us right back and said they could accommodate us earlier, so we headed on over. We were happy they were able to work with that! We arrived, and everyone completed their waivers. Bought of a couple of adult beverages there, which i love that they offered. The young girl who got us set up in our room was great and explained everything. We got started and were progressing along the escape room. There was one puzzle that we completed a number of times according to the clues, and it wasn't working, so we asked for a clue. They gave us the clue, and it was exactly what we spent the last 10 minutes doing. So we said that. There was a malfunction with the button, and so they manually released it. When we finished, we were out in the lobby and asked about the record for that room and were told it was 45 minutes and we got out in 48. If the button had not malfunctioned, we would have beat the record. The manager asked us on her way through the lobby how our escape went, and I said good, EXCEPT... and proceeded to explain, and she just walked away and dismissed me.
