I had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Verdigris Bar in Leawood, Kansas, and I can’t stop raving about it! From the moment I walked through the doors, the vibe was pure magic—sophisticated yet warm, with a stunning Art Deco-inspired interior that feels like stepping into a glamorous, modern speakeasy. The plush leather banquettes, mirrored tables, and soft blue-green tones (a nod to the bar’s namesake, the patina of oxidized copper) create an atmosphere that’s both upscale and inviting, perfect for a date night, a catch-up with friends, or even a solo evening of indulgence. The subtle scent wafting through the air (yes, they pump a signature fragrance!) adds an extra layer of allure that makes you want to linger for hours.
But what truly sets Verdigris apart is its incredible staff. The team here is nothing short of extraordinary—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. The bartenders, led by the talented head bartender Kory, are true artists, crafting cocktails with precision and flair. I had the pleasure of trying the “Carrot Cake at Work,” and it was a revelation—one of the most creative and delicious drinks I’ve ever tasted, perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. The staff’s expertise shines through as they guide you through the menu, offering insights into the seasonally inspired cocktails and helping you find the perfect drink to suit your mood. The general manager was also a standout, mingling with guests, sharing stories about the bar’s unique spirits, and making everyone feel like a VIP.
The service is warm and welcoming without being overbearing, striking that rare balance of professionalism and genuine friendliness. You can tell the team loves what they do, and their enthusiasm is infectious. They even took the time to chat about the inspiration behind the menu, which changes every six months to keep things fresh and exciting. The food menu was a delightful surprise too—don’t sleep on the popcorn or the Monte Cristo; the chef deserves all the praise for elevating bar fare to something truly special.
The vibe at Verdigris is unmatched—lively yet intimate, with just the right mix of upscale elegance and laid-back charm. The music, often a great selection of rap and modern hits, adds a fun, unexpected twist to the sophisticated setting. Whether you’re sipping a smoky cocktail at the bar or relaxing in the cozy outdoor seating area, every moment feels like a celebration. I left feeling uplifted, inspired, and already planning my next visit. Verdigris isn’t just a bar; it’s an experience that leaves you smiling long after you’ve left. Highly recommend making a reservation and treating yourself to a night...

Bold statement, but well deserved. Anyone that complains about pricing is comparing it to average low-end drinks you’re picking up from ol’ Johnny’s Tavern down the road. With that being said, you’re not only paying for the quality of cocktail. You’re paying for the atmosphere, the audience you’re surrounded by, the knowledgeable and kind staff and of course, the experience.
I can’t find a single bad thing to say about this place, so skip to the main reason I keep coming back:
The staff - Head Bartender Adam Chase kills it every quarter (Verdigris updates their cocktail menu frequently) with brilliantly made and delicious cocktails that never disappoint. From the presentation to the interesting combination of ingredients used, you want to try every cocktail on the menu. Stephen, the General Manager and former Monarch Bar employee, always makes you feel welcome and at home. If there’s ever an issue he’s determined to correct it. Honorable mentions: Levi, my favorite bartender. Very personable and friendly. Zach, always knows how to carry great conversation and knowledgeable about origins of different liquors. Curtis, who is just awesome.
In conclusion, you’re really not going to find a better experience in the area. Monarch Bar and Mercury Room are comparable, also projects of the brilliant David Manica, but this is home. I highly recommend anyone in the area or out of it just visiting to dedicate one evening to coming here. You will not be disappointed.
Whiskey lover? Order the Full Monteleone or Sunset Gun to start. Obsessed with presentation, but also delicious cocktails? Polynesian Punch is a staple.
Well done, Verdigris...
Read moreI was so disappointed in our experience Saturday night. I have been here about 10 times. The manager explained to us that they are considered a night club because they serve mostly cocktails and not food. Our server was terrible. We sat on the patio and there were 9 ladies in our group. One of us ordered an espresso martini with tequila. It was made with vodka. Several tried it and ordered what they thought was the same cocktail. The martinis were made with tequila this time and no one liked them. He admitted his mistake, but didn’t offer to replace the drinks. No one drank them and ordered other drinks and they were still charged for them. I ordered a lemon drop. He came back at one point to confirm 4 espresso martinis. I didn’t reply because that is not what I ordered. He came back and hands me an espresso martini. I didn’t order that. He said when I came over to confirm you said nothing so I assumed you wanted an espresso martini. Nope, those words never came out of my mouth. He was so put out. He was not accommodating, friendly and we all felt the service was terrible. I feel like for $17 a drink, they should be friendly at least. I think they used to provide great service. I would not go back based on the service and the vibe. They are trying to be something they are not. Super...
