Lake-Sumter State College — Attraction in Leesburg

I have been chipping away at my AA degree for a few years now. The advising staff are wonderful! The instructors are great too! The front desk staff are amazing! The reason I am giving TWO stars is because of the terrible financial aid office and lack of accountability. The financial aid staff make me feel like the biggest inconvenience to their day. They are condescending, unhelpful, and unprofessional. I have spoken with several financial aid staff members over the years and continuously have the same awful experience because they do not want to help but would rather complain about their job and even say not to call! Why is there even a phone number to speak with these people who do not care to treat students with decency and respect? We do not know all the answers and call for their expertise, but some are too busy eating snacks on the phone and treating me less-than for not knowing their job. Being in customer service, I should expect friendly and helpful staff on the phone and in person. I am almost done here but please, for the well-being of current and future students, require these staff attend customer service training ASAP if they are going to continue in public service, or better yet, hire new, kinder staff who care about students and their jobs. The most unhelpful staff I have ever experienced. Every time I have to call no one answers and I do not get a call back for three to four days (or not at all). I once called four days in a row and when I got a call back the call was disconnected and the lady didn't call me back, so I had to start over with leaving voicemails again. I am currently trying to get my transcripts to transfer to another school and have called three days in a row so far and left messages every time. The financial aid department (leesburg campus) is not any better, the man I spoke to about an issue I had, had no idea what was going on. I went to the chasier and asked and she told me what I needed to know immediately; she then proceeded to bring the man out and talk to him and he basically called me a liar and said I wasn't listening to him. school never answers the phone, any office, not one person picks up. emails take 3 days to a week to get replied to. I had multiple issues with them cutting the amount of grants I was supposed to receive for tuition because their estimate for my “cost of living” was lowered (even though nothing changed between semesters). i was supposed to graduate after my last semester but the professor failed me after not posting grades for the entire semester and when asked about it said she wouldn’t grade until the last week of school, I turned in every assignment and was told I got a 80% on the final (not the best grade but also not failing) and she said she was excited to see me at graduation. weeks later I find out I had failed the class and no way to appeal it. I emailed the school they said to email the dean, I emailed the dean and haven’t had any sort of reply back. Lost hundreds of dollars and delayed my transfer. it feels very shady and I will be filing a complaint...
