I love it here! It's such a beautiful place to go to with your kids, family to make memorizing memories! Also a great place to go to by just yourself to clear your mind. It's like their is 3 parts to this park. I go by levels... The 1st top level is where you can park your car and sit and watch the beautiful view of the Susquehanna river, city island, and Harrisburg. Also you can see the black bridge that once was destroyed by a huge chunk of ice in 1991. The bridge still remains there. You also see mountains in the distance. It's just a very scenic view that you'll never forget. The top level has a pavilion that you can reserve parties.. also just a spot to picnic with your family. This level also has 3 porch swings . If you walk down the big hill their is also a few benches you can sit on .. however I would like to say that they can at least clear up the bushes that are directly in front of about 3 or 4 benches. In the view directly in front of those benches all you see is bushes. It would be nice if they cleared all that up. I remember years ago it wasn't so "bushy". Other then that everything else is beautiful. Walking down to the 2nd level, as I like to call it... Their is a tennis court I believe and a play park great for kids with a Sand box, sea saws, swings for babies and children, slides bouncy chairs and a few other things.... Also they provide a round table by a tree and a few benches and also porch swings. Nice walkway paths as well. Next to the park is also a field . Down to the 3rd level is a parking lot provided. Another pavilion for reservations or picnics. A walkway that takes you up to the 1st level. This park also has 2 port pottys as well. This area should be kept clean it's not something you would notice to Belong in the city. It's a beautiful park and I love it! I always visit city island walk across the black bridge that isn't broke. Then go to...
Read moreIMPORTANT AMMENITIES! Not only is this one of the most pristine green spaces I have encountered, it is clear that there is a supportive community initiative and likely some very thorough groundskeepers. The Park left nothing to desire from its intended purpose and so very much in addition. Clean water closets in every corner of the park. Handicap accessible to every area of the park, though slope may be slightly more steep in few areas. Working and clean waterfountains near both reservable pavilions. Electricity is readily available in each pavilion, while the upper pavilion boasts LED lighting and Panel boxes for what seems to be quite a load. The "Viking hall", also features a large hearth at one end. This nick name is fitting beyond question in my best judgment. A beautiful stone wall, nearly abuts the side of the pavilion, creating a cozy feel closer to the road. The lower pavilion provides a great deal more tranquility. It is further from the road, which creates most of the city sound nearby. The larger pavilion also has the best northern view within steps of the pavilion through the adjoining parking lot. There are a number of sculptures, memorials and donated adornments that make this space a tribute to local pride and care for the commons. Will be happy to come again, hopefully with new and...
Read moreThe view is specular. Water draws me closer to Jesus, who makes my life flow. I can't see the beginning of The Susquehanna river. And it reminds me that Jesus is my beginning from the womb. He was with me in my yesterdays. Nor can i see the end of this flowing river. Just as I don't see the tomorrow, where I follow his will, nor the ending, the end of my life on earth. As I enjoy the peace of this place in the present, my spirit joins with my Lord's Holy Spirit to remind me of the green pastures/field and still/flowing waters. God restores my soul. Trees reminds to be more rooted in my faith because Jesus is my yesterday, today and forever. Negly is a place where I feel on Holy Ground to meet my Savior. Thank for keeping it clean, less litter than usual parks. Thanks for upkeep, land looks well cared for. Thank you for making it a place of refuge. It also feels safe. But I have only enjoyed the fireworks at night!! I also love the walk and benches, swings. Our church had its sunrise service there. Thank you....
