On January 27, 2018, I went into our local Sportsman’s Warehouse for a Military and Public Safety Appreciation Day. I was in to buy a few accessories for a compound bow. I am an Army Vet and like to give my business to companies that support the military. There was a technical issue with one of the accessories I was trying to buy. It was a product the store was no longer going to be carrying so it was marked as a special or clearance price. There was no change in the actual price. The original price was $39.97 and the now price was $39.97. I was discussing it with a couple of employees, which was determined it was just a product that was no longer being carried. They showed me their monitor that had the history of the product to which I saw the average sale price was $33. I then asked if they were able to mark the item down for customer satisfaction as I should be able to get it for $31.98 with the 20% off for the Military Appreciation Day sale. They said they would ask their supervisor. When the supervisor came over, a younger employee, I explained that I was a vet and the situation. He said he couldn’t mark it down to $31.98 as that was below their cost. I asked what their ordering cost was and he stated it was $33. This was a lie as that was the average sale price. I know because I saw it with my own eyes. I was pretty surprised when the supervisor would not take care of a vet on a Veterans Appreciation day. He wouldn’t mark down something and take care of the situation over $1. I told him it wasn’t even the monetary issue anymore, that it was pretty ridiculous that this was how he wanted to handle the situation. I informed him that they just lost my business. When I was at the front of the store I asked to speak to the store manager, the employee instead of getting the store manager wanted to see what she could do. I explained the situation and instead of getting the store manager like I asked she wanted to try to explain he was newer and probably trying to do things by the book. She did say she would talk to the store manager and she could sell me the item at the sale price. I was already irritated enough that I wasn't going to purchase anything anymore. As I was leaving the Store Manager ran out to apologize and stated that he doesn’t know what his employee was thinking but that was definitely not the way to handle the situation. I was pretty appalled by the whole situation, especially on a military appreciation day. He said he would talk to the employee but the whole situation wasn’t handled properly, from the beginning to the end of the issue. I don’t feel that they really cared too much about handling the situation properly This is unfortunate because as I stated I like to give my business to places that support military and vets. From the lead, to the supervisor, to the store manager; neither of them handled the situation properly. Nor do I feel that they wanted to make sure a local vet was taken care of on a Military Appreciation Day. I will no longer shop...
Read moreUnfortunately Sportsman's is under new management at the headquarters. In just a matter of weeks their floor space has been cut 43% a lot of the taxidermy has been taken down, which sadly was my kiddos favorite thing to look at. Especially mainly being locally focused. I can see them shifting to a highend market pretty much everything clothing wise now is all Sitka, Simms, etc. which does not fit our local market. They carry even less localized fishing gear for salmon, steelhead, and sturgeon. Their fly fishing section is absolutely pathetic now. It is also pretty much only staffed by highschool aged kids that if they're not just standing around talking don't have any knowledge on what they're selling. Sadly as much as I hate to say it I will not be suggesting anyone there or be shopping there myself much longer. I would definitely go to North 40 better selections and typically a dollar or two cheaper on the same products. Even though Sportsman's claims to match or beat prices I've yet to...
Read moreI have only recently went into this store. And my first encounters were wonderful. I was looking to purchase a pistol and the employees were very helpful. However this last time I went in there,, I had purchased a pistol online and went in to get it - as the website states Pickup today. My receipt said Pick up today. I spent an hour in there waiting to get my purchase and I wasn't able to leave with it. Today I was there and again I am unable to get the pistol. It is bought and paid for and in the store so I have no idea what the "fraud check" is they have to check for. But they shouldn't advertise you can pick up same day when you absolutely can not. I am very frustrated with this -and no I am not waiting for clearance to purchase the pistol - I bought one from them 2 days before that and walked...
