ARTplay Children's Studio — Attraction in Lexington

I have two kids who have grown up with ARTPlay from the time they were one. I have loved so much getting to watch them learn and explore their interests through art, nature, sensory play, and pretend play in a welcoming “yes space”. My kids have adored every teacher we have encountered. We have made several like-minded friends from our classes. It has been a joy for our entire family.

We have also held two birthday parties there and I can not express enough how easy they both were for my husband and I, not to mention fun for the kids!

Most importantly, the owner, Jarah, truly and deeply cares for each individual students’ needs. She also has a genuine love for the Lexington community. She has made ARTPlay into a place that teaches young children how important the connection between art and community is, which is something that I think will make our city brighter as they grow up.

There are lots of children’s art studios in this town, but none with the heart and soul of ARTPlay. Do yourself a favor and...

My daughter had her party this year at the ArtPlay and it was downright magical. She requested a pretty random theme for her 6th birthday (vampire bats?) and Jarah, the owner, didn't miss a beat. She came up with such creative ideas for the party activities (bats capes and masks complete with hand-cut bat ears by her lovely assistant, Ellen) Both of these women were so kind and helpful with the kiddos and you could tell they really wanted them to be able to express their artistic and creative side but still in a low pressure setting.

We have also attended several birthday parties and the staff always seem to be able to adapt the feel of the party to the kiddos attending. It's very open-ended in its creativity and the little ones leave so proud of the art they have created. I appreciate the sensory bins too for the younger ones who may wander a bit more and need more activities.

Both of my children have loved ArtPlay since they were 15 months and now are 4.5 & 5.5. They love the free play aspect. They are completely different children and it speaks to both of them. One is more sensory based and it’s the only place he gets the calm atmosphere he strives for and the other is more product based. Being in that class has carried over to our home life the children are constantly wanting to recreate an activity we did there. ArtPlay introduced our children to art in a way of exploration and imagination. We continue to go weekly throughout the year.
