First time costumer. Being that Iām used to resort spas, my boyfriend recommended this place was as close as Iāll get being in Ohio. All I wanted was a massage and facial before our trip with the intent to relax due to school being so overwhelming. Everything was great up until the massage. There was no introduction. That was fine. I seen a black stain on the sheet and asked for a towel to be laid down. Maybe a dryer mark? She apologized and laid one down which was great. I am not one to complain much anyways because overall initially it was a good experience. She quickly got to her job which I did appreciate being a beautician I understand when you just have days where you want to focus on your work. However, if this is supposed to be to zen and relaxing, why did I feel so much tension in the air? I ignored. The massage was so light all I felt was lotion being rubbed on me. I knew it wasnāt deep tissue but this was nothing like a real massage. I was just being rubbed on. Again I have a man for that. So after a good 10 minutes rubbing lotion on my arm I asked when do we move to the back as that is my main focus and prefer to have that done longer than anything else. I immediately offend my masseuse I guess. She responded with so much sass asking if she can do her job and she knows what she is doing. From one simple question I asked while even my eyes were still closed, the entire vibe was thrown off. I wonāt lie. I cried. I never been treated that way ever in a spa. And this was nothing close to real luxury or relaxing. I asked to get dressed and she just walked out. As Iām getting dressed and decided to decline now all services, I open my door to catch the masseuse ease dropping on my phone call to my boyfriend. Why would you not go get management immediately? Instead she pointed to the stairs and left me to find my way. I donāt know if she was on drugs or what her deal was but she did not like me or I guess wanted to make me uncomfortable. I can sense the insecurity and drama all on her. I did not fall for a confrontation moment which I could tell she wanted. I mentioned I knew something like this would happen being that Iām in Ohio. How close can you really get to a real 5 star luxury spa? She immediately was offended again. I politely left though without being escorted again so I did get lost. Just such a bad experience. Amy the manager offered alternatives like buying me lunch and putting me in a quiet room? But never made the employee apologize or even apologized for what took place. She only apologized for how I was feeling, and offered to buy me lunch as long as I can stay. I was uncomfortable. $500 or more Iām sure was going to be spent and I was treated as if I was getting a 100 dollar massage. And I never had one of those before lol. Shame. The place has potential but energy transfer is real. I would never let anyone of them touch me when Iām suppose to be in a state of relaxation and tranquility. God bless.
Side note, my boyfriend thought I went to a different spa than the one he suggested which was Woodhouse. Clearly treatment was different because he was completely taken back as he listened on the phone while everything was going on. Heās white. I am black. I told him no more Ohio spas. We will enjoy our ocean front massages on our trip and spend our money where it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just recently celebrated my adult sonās birthday, as an added surprise I booked a massage at the Woodhouse Spa, Liberty Township. I booked the appointment online and provide my credit card on file. Because I booked online, I had several questions to ask which required a telephone call. I left a message the 2nd time no one answered and waited (2) days without a returned call back. I called again after the 3rd day and did get a staff member to answer my questions.
I arrived before my son to drop off a surprise gift bag with some of his favorite things and a special note from me for his next destination. I advised the front counter that the gratuity would be handled because there was a question asked of me about gratuity not being on my booking online which was intentional not knowing what services my son was receiving and if he had any add ons.
I value service and go the extra mile for anyone providing a service to me. I had custom gift bags made for each person who helped in the surprise along with a personal hand written thank you from my son with monetary gifts for all service providers. To my surprise, I received a call at the top of the morning from Woodhouse asking for money for a tip. I was immediately turned off because I couldnāt get a callback to answer questions after 2 days but not even 24 hours later I get a call asking for money for a tip? I have a friend that works in the Medi-Spa industry so Iām familiar with the backstory of upselling and pressures of asking for a certain gratuity.
Iām no stranger to the spa as I do it quite often. I Iām fact had a beautiful custom thank you bag for the massage therapist but didnāt get a chance to even present it to herā¦disappointed to have received such a blatant call at the top of my morning! For this reason, I wonāt return and will continue to schedule my relaxation sessions at Mitchellās instead. My son didnāt express if the massage was pleasant or not.
The policy is clear on the website and in other places that gratuity is at the customerās discretion; not allowing customers to freely give as they please makes gratuity here seem more like an obligation rather than an appreciation of a service rendered.
Update 4/22/25 - For the record and I can verify that NO ONE from Woodhouse Spa has contacted me to discuss, the response below is absolutely false. I have checked my voicemail, missed calls and canāt find one call after this review on my call log from this company. Iād be happy to discuss if a call would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had my second appointment today. Brianna provided a good massage but I looked at the clock right before she walked in the room, time read 11:10. I looked at the clock when she left, time read 11:50. I was scheduled for a 50 minute massage and only received 40 minutes of actual massage time. I was on time. I got there at 10:45 for my 11:00 massage. Had to wait a few minutes to check in but no biggie and was dressed in my robe and in the waiting room ON TIME. I sat in the waiting room for about 5 minutes and then she and I talked for a few minutes before leaving me to get situated on the table. I was not late so if her schedule ran behind for any reason I should not have missed 10 minutes of my massage. Also if I was late, there should have been a discussion of me missing part of my massage time which didnāt happen because I wasnāt late. I paid $155 for 40 minutes. This was my second time at Woodhouse. My first time was two weeks ago I was scheduled for a 50 minute deep tissue massage. They put me with Sierrah (not sure if spelled correctly) she did not give me a deep tissue massage. It was very light pressure. I paid $175 and left dissatisfied. I decided to give Woodhouse one more shot and booked this appointment and put in the notes that I needed someone who would actually do a deep tissue massage. I was called by a receptionist and she assured me I would be with someone who could do a deep tissue this time and that Sierrah isnāt comfortable doing them.. she didnāt apologize, didnāt offer me anything even though I paid for something I didnāt receive and they knew Sierrah wasnāt capable of doing what I booked for. Very disappointing. Now this time I get a decent massage but not for the time that I booked and paid for. So Iām out $330 and am very disappointed in services Iāve received.
EDIT 11/20/23 I had a third service today provided by Nasaijah and it was amazing! She did a great deep tissue massage and was very friendly, funny and personable! I really liked her and will be back to see her again! Thank you to both Nasaijah and Sara for reaching out to make things right, I really...
