My wife and I enjoy visiting casino's all around Oregon. So far we've been to 4 casino resorts and are fairly split about this particular resort. For reference, we were in a King bed non-suite oceanfront view room. Ill give pro's and con's then go into a synopsis.||Pro's:|-Friendly staff|-Bed was comfortable|-Shower was nice. Older, but nice!|-Location to anything coastal is awesome.|-Fantastic views of the beach with beach access.|-Food was delicious.|-Casino was fun and fairly well laid out for being a two story circular building|-Some food choices open until late (1 or 2am which we haven't seen in other casinos).|-Ace's bar and grill had great service and decent bar food.|-Shuttle available at all hours and is quick to respond, very friendly service.||Con's:|-NO AC in non-suite rooms!|-Dated room|-Floor had stains all over|-Food was expensive with not very many options on their menu's (with the exception of breakfast at the seafood grill)|-All buildings broken up so you need to either walk, drive, or shuttle around.|-Golf course is awful||Synopsis:|When we arrived we kinda laughed at how broken up the resort was. They have the casino in one building, then the hotels within walking distance of the casino, and found they also have an arcade even broken off the hotel, and their golf course/clubhouse about 5 minutes away from the whole resort!. This is to no one's fault, we just found it interesting. ||When we arrived, the staff was friendly and quick! In and out and to our room. When we walked in, the room looked very dated. Only had a small table and a couple chairs by the window, king bed (which was actually really comfortable!) with nightstands, and a broken up bathroom area which I haven't seen in a long time (sink outside the toilet/shower area). It was pretty warm in the room and I saw absolutely zero modern AC units, so I went looking for a thermostat and set it to 40. I, as most others, assumed that it would kick on blowing cold air. Well it definitely kicked on air, but it was HOT air. I called the front desk and asked how I turned on the AC to which I was told that ONLY the suite rooms had AC. So we ended up opening all the windows and pray that the ocean breeze came into the room to cool it off. Once we were ready, we called for the shuttle to take us to the casino. It was prompt!||When we got to the casino we enjoyed wandering around and seeing the layout and all the decorations before we went to get our players cards, which was quick and easy with very awesome staff. We then needed to go find some food, and since this was a date night we went to the steakhouse on the second floor. Took us a little bit to find but we eventually got there. We would have gone to the buffet, but didn't realize until we got there that it was closed on Mon/Tue. When we were seated our server was amazing and got us service right away. The menu options were limited and pretty damn expensive for what we got, but they were decent. My wife had the Siletz Duet which we both weren't fans of, the tastes didn't really go together. I had the 16oz prime rib, mainly because I wasn't about to pay damn near $100 for a 24oz. That was delicious and pretty well cooked. Loaded baked potato didn't come with cheese which was weird to me, but it came with chives as the alternative which was a solid choice imo. The view was great though, and the bread was delicious. After that it was time to gamble. The selection was great, had a few games I wasn't familiar with but it was interesting to see. But like most casinos, fun was had. Went back to the bedroom and thankfully it cooled off a bit, but not quite to the level we usually sleep at so we didn't sleep that well. But again, the bed was comfortable so that was a plus of the room.||The next day we had a tee time that we had to make so we rushed to find some breakfast. Only option was the seafood grill and it was actually really delicious and inexpensive. Unfortunately was the only option at the casino with a breakfast option that im aware. Afterward we took the shuttle to Aces and the golf course and hit the course first. I did see that they had an indoor driving range which was neat. I don't have alot of great things to say about the golf course. I am better than beginner but less than intermediate, and this course is NOT good for that. The hills were ridiculous. The ground was super hard. It looked like they tried to aerate the ground to accept watering better but then I found out later they have no sprinkler system or some way to keep their grounds. Which is odd because there were areas where water just overflowed and made mud patches to which I almost fell on my butt. The houses right in the center of the course were interesting to see, they were really nice...we were worried to hit them!! Talking about the hills again, some were practically drop-offs so if you got close, you lost a ball. Others were just an uphill battle for many many many yards. If you got a solid hit (I hit a solid 200 on a 300+ yard hole) it hit the ground and proceeded to roll backward 100-ish yards. That took us a solid 20 minutes to find the ball! And others had hills going in either direction so you only had a quarter of the fairway to use. The absolute best part was driving the cart around!! ||So after a very disappointing run, we hit Aces bar and grill. We didn't really have a place to put our clubs, which for a golf clubhouse that some use a shuttle to get to, you would think there was a spot for them. But we just put them in the corner and that was great. There isn't a whole lot to say about Aces Bar and Grill. We enjoyed the food. The options were limited, but as is a bar menu. Service was awesome. The room was cool so we definitely weren't roasting. And everything else you could think of about a bar, they had. It was good and I would suggest it if you need a place to go after golfing or you enjoy the ambiance of a bar. ||Overall, we enjoyed the casino. And we always enjoy the beach and having a place to eat right on the beach with a view is great. The rooms that ARE NOT suites, I wouldn't suggest. There are hotels down the road, go to those. The shuttle won't take you there, but i'm betting they're better than the room we had. I hope...
Read moreWas very satisfied with our stay here! It was easy to reserve through their website. When I put in that we were 3 adults I was given a few options that would accommodate that. I picked the “connecting” King room. I assumed we'd have a main room and then a connected bedroom with a door and then we'd have to share a bathroom, but no, we were VERY pleased to find that within one area we had TWO bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, and the connecting doors between both areas could be closed and locked, with each area having its own separate door out to the hallway as well! Each also had its own TV. Perfect for my husband and I, with our adult son traveling with us! || No complaints about our rooms at all! Loved them! I loved the ocean view from our room. Son didn't really like that his window faced the walkway so he could hear people going by, but he didn't care that much, especially since we were the ones paying for it, ha ha. Our window didn't seem to open at first, but the staff told us that yes, they did open, so finally my husband was able to open it. The ocean breeze and sounds all night were awesome. The beds were comfortable, everything was super clean. Wifi was open and did not need a password. Microwave, Fridge, Keurig coffee maker in the main room. Hair dryers in the bathrooms, along with bottles of toiletries. Easy parking right in front of the stairs side of the buildings. || We were on the 3rd floor and there were a lot of steps to get there, but that's not something we mind. There are 3 buildings (B, C, D) that seem to all have the same pattern of 3 stories. The 1st story seems to be the floor that they give to the dog people, as those rooms have the back doors to the grassy area that faces the ocean. We were in the D building, and that one is the easiest to walk to the casino from. But, unless you do have walking issues, it's not that far of a walk from any of the buildings. They ALSO do have a free shuttle that makes the rounds of their property that you can catch. There is an A building as well, probably more expensive. It has a secure lobby with elevators, and suites with private balconies and fireplaces. That one is the furthest from the casino. || For kids, there is a daycare building for those 11 and under. I walked by there and it sounded like the kids were laughing and having fun. I think it said it cost $12 an hour. Next to it was an arcade with a lot of different kinds of games. I walked in to look around and no one was in there at that time. The games did look fun. Wednesdays are half priced day. You have to buy a card and load it up with money. The lowest priced option seemed to be $40 for a couple hundred credits (I forget exactly). The games took around 15 credits per play, but it varied. || I did try out the pool. No one was there when I went. It was nice. Water was warm. It looked like they paved over a hot tub, which was a little disappointing! || We made the rounds of all the restaurants. Their website makes it seem like there are more than there actually are. The sub sandwich restaurant, the coffee place, the deli and the Mexican restaurant really are just stands in a food court area in the casino. They were pretty pricey for just sandwiches, burgers and burritos. The coffee place did have a big variety of drinks, but sadly no pastries or breakfasty treats. The Siletz cafe upstairs seems like it should have been a lunch option, but for some reason, it only opened at 2pm each day, so we never made it there. No buffet, either! But, off property, there are nearby restaurant options: A Mcmenamins, a 60s Diner, a Fish and Chips place, a McDonalds, a Taco Bell, a Pig and Pancake. Also, a Safeway. All within walking distance. For cheap snacks there's a Dollar Tree. We saw signage in the casino for an “Aces” restaurant and asked where that was, and were told the shuttle would take us there. It wound up being at their golf course. Nice place, sportsbar type food and full bar, friendly staff. One dinner we had at the fancy Rogue Steakhouse upstairs in the casino and it was very good. Then we also had a dinner and a breakfast at the Chinook seafood lounge, across from the lobby. Really liked that one! || We're not huge gamblers, we each just brought a few hundred to play with on the machines. For us, we did well with them! By the time we left, we each had gained about another hundred! I liked their machines. You seem to be able to keep them going quite awhile without feeding too much more money into them. || All in all, a fun little getaway! Wonderful scenic location, and SUCH a friendly staff. The few things we asked about they were RIGHT on it with their response or their help! Thank you for the pleasant stay,...
Read moreThis review is for the NIGHT CLUB only. This review is based off of multiple visits in 2023-2024. This is an edited review as I previously left one that I felt was a little too negative, when ultimately, I have willingly chosen to go back with friends multiple times (even weekends in a row) because of the overall experience I have had here.
I would like to start off by stating that this is a beautiful nightclub venue with a lot of available and open seating and a really comfortable-sized dance floor that has the opportunity to fill up quickly and make you feel a part of a crowd. If you are used to visiting nightclubs in larger cities, (like the one that I currently live in), you may notice a different choice of music that isn't always MY personal favorite, but I now understand that the DJs try their best to cater to all ages of people that come to visit the nightclub. I have to admit it is pretty awesome seeing people of all ages get down on the dance floor. The last time that I was there I saw two strangers dance together; one was a young male and one was a woman in her elderly years and they were just dancing having a great time laughing, smiles and all! This truly warmed my heart and I am starting to appreciate that the DJ caters to all ages, not just mine. With that being said, I do wish that they would incorporate some newer music that came out this year or last year, just to keep things fresh so we aren't always hearing the same songs each visit.
Ill say that the mixed drinks at the nightclub are not my favorite, but they do come at a fantastic price! I think that the small, hard plastic water cups that they use hinder their bartending ability due to the lack of room to make the mixed beverage. I understand that it is more of a hazard to have glassware breaking on the dance floor, so maybe they can think about using taller plastic cups if they don't mind keeping drinks less aesthetically pleasing. I can't say that I would recommend getting an elaborate mixed drink here beyond one liquor+soda, or one liquor+ juice, but you can't go wrong with beer, cider, or single shots of liquor!
I also want to note that the lighting and sound quality is always absolutely fantastic both in the usual upstairs nightclub, as well as in the bingo room downstairs for the larger events that they hold. This year, I had the pleasure to visit two events; one being the spring break party, and the other being the New Year's party event. Both of those were awesome experiences that I would definitely go back to every year that they hold it. I love those events in particular because A LOT more people tend to visit the club for those events, and so it's really nice to appreciate the diversity of people that feel welcome to visit. I think that if the casino could work on outreaching with their marketing, that people from cities like where I live in Portland and many more would come to the coast specifically for these events.
One great experience that I have had at the nightclub is that when I leave my purse on the table unattended, the security notices it and takes it away and holds it until I get back, having kept it safe for me. I was very impressed by this! I think as long as whoever is DJing incorporates more inclusive music along with what they are already playing, then this will be a nightclub and event space that continues to grow financially.
I want to thank the casino staff for always providing a good service. Come to think of it, I always see the staff both in the club and off with smiles on their faces, appearing to be energized to take care of their customers. Now, if you could just let me win some money on the game floor that...
