During a recent coastal trip, I passed through Lincoln City with a strong craving for some good ol' fish and chips. A quick search on Google Maps led me to Pub Fish and Chips, which looked promising enough for a try. Here's a detailed account of my experience. The ambiance of Pub Fish and Chips is quite inviting, with a cozy, nautical-themed decor that fits well with its coastal location. It has a laid-back vibe, perfect for a casual meal with family or friends. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure our needs were met promptly. They were courteous and provided great recommendations, enhancing our dining experience. The prices were fair, but unfortunately, the flavor left much to be desired. Here’s a breakdown of what we tried: We started with a bowl of clam chowder, which was just okay. It had a strong taste of dried thyme, which was quite off-putting. The cheese curds were the highlight of the meal. They were on par with Tillamook cheese curds, well-seasoned, crispy, and really delicious. My wife ordered the cod fish tacos, which turned out to be quite flavorful. The pico de gallo was refreshing, and the fried cod was seasoned very well. For my kids, we ordered mac and cheese. It was a bit disappointing to find out it was from a box, but being 3 and 4 years old, the kids didn't mind and seemed to enjoy it. I had high hopes for the 4-piece halibut fish and chips, given that it's the restaurant's namesake dish. However, the fish was tender but lacked any real flavor. It was served with extremely sour tartar sauce and bland coleslaw, which didn't help elevate the dish. While the ambiance and service were commendable, the food, particularly the fish and chips, did not live up to expectations. If I were to return, it would be for the cheese curds and maybe the fish tacos, but certainly not the fish and chips. If you're in Lincoln City and looking for a place with great service and a cozy atmosphere, Pub Fish and Chips could be worth a visit. However, if you're specifically craving flavorful fish and chips, you might want to explore other options.

My daughter and I decided to enjoy lunch at Pub Fish & Chips. The menu is simple with plenty of options to choose from if you like seafood or chicken. They do not serve hamburgers, but their other diner is in the same parking lot. I chose the popcorn shrimp basket, and she chose the chicken bites basket. The waiter provided excellent service. I didn't catch his name at the time, so I'm unable to give him the credit he truly deserves. Our visit was on the 19th of June. He was the only waiter who took care of each guest in a timely manner. He made sure to check on everyone regularly. We were surprised to find large portions when the food arrived to the table. It was hot, crispy, and fresh. My shrimp basket came with fries and coleslaw. I also opted for ranch dressing and cocktail sauce. I honestly wasn't a fan of the coleslaw. It was a little too strong for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed my shrimp and fries. They had an excellent flavor and cooked perfectly. The only thing I would change is maybe adding a few more fries, and I would decline the coleslaw next time so that someone else could enjoy it. My daughter's chicken bites and fries were also excellent. She opted for the ranch dressing for her chicken and fry sauce for the fries. I highly recommend Pub Fish & Chips for lunch. The customer service was amazing, and the cooks did a great job with preparing our food. The prices are comparable to most places on the coast. The portion sizes are plentiful. You definitely don't leave hungry. The photos doesn't give it the justice it deserves. They are also pet friendly on the patio. We didn't bring our furry friends, but it is nice to know that is an option in the future. Thank you for making this the right choice for a mother-daughter lunch!

I’ll get it out of the way by saying: this is better than Moe’s. On a Monday at lunch time, the shop was quiet and my food wait was 10 minutes. Deep fried pickles- crispy, with a tasty dill sauce. Deep fried cheese curds- salty cheese, crispy coating. Served with sweet chili sauce and caramel. Everyone LOVED this one. Cod basket- great fries, good meaty fish. A classic, done right. No surprises. This came with 4 Oz of Coleslaw, a lemon wedge, and tartar sauce. Clam chowder- this one got rave reviews from the chowder lovers. Big chunks of meat, creamy base. Steamed clams- again, rave reviews from the clam lovers. My only complaint/suggestion is to package the garlic toast separately. Even with the warning not to tip the package, and a careful trip home, the toast was swimming by the time I opened the box. Still, my husband threatened to drink the leftover broth- it was that good. The woman at the counter was friendly, and I loved that they included ketchup, malt vinegar, oyster crackers, cutlery, and napkins without any request from me. About a mile from Roads End, this is our new favorite place!

I almost never leave reviews but wowww this place deserves it! I got the cod fish n chips and an order of their clams and I was floored, truly. My partner and I kept talking about how it's some of the best restaurant food we've ever had, and definitely the best fish n chips by far. First of all, the service was great. Our waiter was great and recommended a really great beer that went well with our order, with no bullshit. Just "whaddya usually drink, IPA, stout, etc? IPA? Alright I'll grab you a blahblah". He was also really quick with the order and with the payment. He also didn't do the whole "Hi hows your food?" and I say "Good!" and he says "Ok lemme know if you need anything!" (there's nothing wrong with that but I don't like it personally). Really nice, fast, and no bullshit! Second, the atmosphere was nice, good diner vibes with good decor, and the outdoor seating area was nice (the view was just a big parking lot with closed businesses on the other end, but they definitely did the best with what they had, not their fault.) They also played some classic americana which typically I'm not into, but it really fit the diner vibe well and heightened the experience. Which is something I've never really considered before or really cared about. And most importantly, the food was incredible. Again, we ordered cod fish n chips and a bowl of clams. The breading on the cod was simple and perfected. It was lightly seasoned so the flavor of the fresh cod came through, and wow that cod was delicious and perfectly cooked, while the breading was deeply browned and shattered like glass! The fries were also pretty much perfect for my tastes, standard cut and they had an extra layer of deeply browned flaky crust that also shattered. I'm a fan of "elevated basics", aka the best version of something simple, and they delivered that. Nothing fancy, nothing novel. These guys just perfected the basics. The bowl of clams was also insanely tasty. The garlic butter soup it was in required nothing else but a squeeze of lemon. Another perfected basic. Also, the portions were great and just those 2 dishes was more than enough to fill 2 people. We got 4 pieces of fish, ate 3 and took 1 home. We had that last piece at night and somehow the breading wasnt soggy after microwaving. Definitely didn't shatter like before but it was still way better than I would've expected fried fish to be after 6ish hours in the fridge. Kudos to the workers at Pub Fish & Chips, seriously. If the owner reads this review, please pass this message on. (I visited Aug 11th...

Had the worst experience we’ve ever had in any restaurant or bar. My boyfriend and I walked in at 1 pm on Saturday 11/2 and it was empty. Sat down and the guy who was behind the bar came to take our order. I asked for a spicy Bloody Mary and he aggressively said “I don’t do that” with a very direct stare that made my boyfriend and I uneasy from the start. I was surprised and said “oh it’s on the menu” and he replied “it’s on the menu but I don’t do that” and then walked to the bar muttering something about checking on the ingredients. He says he does have Bloody Mary mix but doesn’t make bloody Mary’s and so he could “half ass” one for me. It was weirdo behavior so my boyfriend and I were already exchanging glances signaling maybe we should leave. Im thinking maybe this guy truly doesn’t have experience with bloody Mary’s so I said “it should just be Bloody Mary mix and some vodka”, and the guy gave the creepiest coldest smile and stare from behind the bar and said “I know how to make them.” Immediately we stood up and said we were leaving. It was a creepy, weird, and disrespectful interaction at that point and we were planning on spending big money for my birthday that day and I didn’t want to give him our patronage. When he realized we were leaving, his body language shifted to apologetic desperation and he tried saving the interaction, saying “but you could coach me through it!!” But we left regardless because clearly he didn’t care how he treated us and didn’t expect us to leave. The entire interaction was bizarrely aggressive and weird. Who wants to put up with that???

We ended up going to kyllo’s and spent $200 on a couple spicy bloodys, oysters, cioppino, pesto clam and shrimp linguine - truly the most incredible meal with amazing service and views. Go there instead. This...
