We rent Peter Pan park quite frequently, for my son’s baseball practices.
The park is on the northern side of Lincoln just off of Vine Street.
The park is always clean and free of litter and the sports equipment is also nicely maintained.
It is around a 25 minute drive for us from where we live near 84th St. and old Cheney Road.
It has a lot of large Shady trees all around the baseball diamond, which lets us place our chairs underneath and sit and watch the kids practice
The park is surrounded by single-family homes and townhomes in all directions and I must say that the density of homes is quite high
The park is also attached to a playground and a skate park which is used presumably by local kids
The only parking lot in the park is adjacent to the playground and it’s quite a long walk to get to the baseball practice from the parking lot
The quickest way to access the baseball field is to park on the street adjacent to the field.
And there are a couple of issues that I do need to point out about this park.
The first one is that it does not have adequate lighting and it does not feel safe once it gets too dark.
The second point is that a number of people walk their dogs at all times throughout the park and do not necessarily respect the walkways built inside the park so we are often surprised by dogs eager to make friends with us…
As far as facilities, there is one port-a-potty serving the entire park. However today I found that it had been toppled over and lying on its side which was quite inconvenient as I wanted to use it. Let’s see if it’s put back into service by the time we are...
Read moreThey've destroyed the ability of kids to enjoy this park in the summer. All playground equipment was moved to full sun area and then they put black rubber under the equipment. Nothing says play here like a warning label due to excessive heat due to sunlight. Not to mention the bathrooms were demolished and they installed a single port a potty. The picnic tables were now all aluminum and sitting on a concrete pad in full sun. Burning your legs all summer long.
I grew up in this park. Sad to see it...

So much has changed I hardly recognize it, as a child I spent a ton of time here, it made me sad to see so many features straight up gone. Some if the walking trails are in terrible shape, I swear they have not done maintenance on them in my lifetime. The north side trails that connect to the trail are in much better condition. Still a nice public...
