Read moreIt's Martin Luther King Jr. Day and my usual Vietnamese restaurant is closed. However, my determination to enjoy a hot bowl of Pho has not wavered. I found this restaurant on Google and the reviews made it seem promising. When I walk in, it's the stereotypical Vietnamese restaurant that you would expect, nothing fancy. The Pho broth itself was pretty good, but that's where it pretty much ended for me. None of the ingredients were fresh. Beginning with the bean sprouts, basil, or meat. To top things off, I noticed that the red sriracha sauce looked a little different. When I opened it up and put a little bit on my plate it tasted completely off which is when I realized that they were either purchasing a cheaper sauce and placing it into these bottles. But I'm not here to get anyone in trouble. I'm just here to offer a little bit of guidance. Imagine buying a corvette then realizing it had a Kia motor?
When it comes to enjoying a bowl of pho, all in all, from a scale of 1-10 I would probably rate this place a 4. Meaning that this place is probably just below average in my book. A 10 would be the best pho you've ever eaten and a 1 would be the worst. Will I...

For the next few years of living in Lincoln, I would eat pho at least once a week, trying new places, but always returning here. The broth tastes richer and contains a more complex flavor than all the others in town. There is a nutmeg aspect that I have never even tasted elsewhere.
The service has always been good. The family who ran it knew I liked spicy and would bring me special sauces they made for themselves from the back.
Now I live in Omaha, some ways away, and I mostly just have to be sad about how much better the pho is there than at any...
