I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tiru Ethiopian Restaurant in Lincoln, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality, which immediately made me feel at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, reflecting the vibrant Ethiopian culture with its beautiful decor and welcoming staff.
The food was nothing short of amazing. I tried a variety of dishes, and each one was bursting with flavor. The injera, a traditional Ethiopian flatbread, was perfectly made — soft, tangy, and the ideal complement to the stews and dishes. The Doro Wat (spicy chicken stew) was tender, rich, and packed with delicious spices. I also tried the Kitfo, a traditional dish of minced beef, which was fresh and perfectly seasoned.
The restaurant offers a great variety of vegetarian options, which I appreciated, and the portions were generous. Whether you’re a fan of meat or vegetarian dishes, Tiru Ethiopian Restaurant has something to satisfy everyone’s taste. The coffee ceremony they offer is a must-try; it’s a truly authentic Ethiopian experience.
Overall, Tiru Ethiopian Restaurant provides an unforgettable dining experience with high-quality food, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I will definitely be returning soon and highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Ethiopian cuisine. It’s a true...
Read moreWe came in expecting a bit of a wait and generally have a lot of patience - but did not expect to wait an entire hour and a half between giving our order and seeing a server or employee at the table again. The dining room was not busy - there were two other tables ahead of us and one who left within about ten minutes of our arrival.
Based on the number of to go orders we saw leaving it appears they’re making that a priority over their in person patrons. They also brought food to a table that came in an hour after us about twenty minutes before finally bringing ours. No glasses of water were offered to us, just bottles of water to purchase.
When the food finally arrived it wasn’t hot, but the flavors were delicious and it was a lot of food. They were apologetic about the wait. When we were halfway through our meal they finally brought our appetizer, which was so odd. They said it was free as a condolence.
The food was delicious but I’m not sure the experience would warrant another visit. I really wanted to love this place. My recommendation is to carry out because it seems that comes with more urgency than food in...
Read moreExcellent Ethi food, very economically priced. We got the meat combo and the veggie combo. The Doro Wat was good, the red sauced beef (I'll call it Wot, I think they called it something else) was Excellent. The various lentil dishes were excellent, the Shiro was the best I've ever had. Only item I found a little below average was the injera, it was like it was a little dry or something the texture was just a little different than I'm accustomed to. Management is great, the first time I came, I crashed their graduation party, they allowed me to come in and share the buffet with their family. Service has been slow both times though I think there was only one waitress and I'm guessing only one cook in the back. It appeared they default to serving on individual rectangular platters instead of the traditional communal round one. We ordered enough and requested the round platter so it came that way. I travel all around the country and frequent an Ethiopian restaurant about once a month. The food at Tiru is some of the...
