Edgar & James – Goodwill Specialty Store & Donation Center — Attraction in Long Beach

I love thrift shopping . Recently I had a very bad experience with the store manager APRIL at the bixby knolls “Edgar and James “ location. I went to buy jeans , I bought 5 pairs ,which were 9.99 each , when i got home and threw them in the washer. After the quick wash I realized I had 5 jeans but the receipt showed 6 pairs scanned . The mistake may have been because the young man who rang me up , scanned all the jeans with only one barcode . I call the location the very next day and explained the situation and that i’ve washed them as well . She told me on the phone to bring them in and she will refund me . When I arrive , very rudely “April” the store manager, was very rude and seemed she didn’t want to help me . She then says she cannot help me because the tags are off . I remind her that on the phone , I did tell her that I washed them and she had me waste my time coming to the store , to now say she can’t refund me . She continues to talk in. a very sarcastic way about everything I say . She is very rude ! I do not know how she ever became a store manager. It makes me never want to shop at this location again. I called the location next door to the cooperate office & The store manager i believe his name is Gary , was very very helpful, apologized for the situation, and refunded me the money back. I felt welcomed at his store and like he loved his job ! I even went on to buy more items . Please speak with April and remind her that is not acceptable for...

01/2019 Added note* This store now has tags that are higher than the standard price ,for instance, dresses are normally $8.49(or something like that) however TAKE NOTICE it may have a white tag that prices certain regular dresses at $15.00. ** If you are buying a t-shirt that you get out of the mens section, watch the ring up price when you are paying ,as for some reason, mens tees are $2.99 and women's tees are $4.99. If you are a woman or the t-shirt is small, they will ring it up as a woman's tee. This is not implying there is any bigotry in effect, I believe that it is just assumed that if you are a woman or if the tee is small, it is a woman's tee. This happens to me everytime I visit this store and buy a t-shirt ,and I only buy tees from the mens section, I always have to tell them it's from the mens section. Yes, I am aware people move things around as they are shopping but how about this * Goodwill team, * just a suggestion, please attach a tag that clearly defines if it is a mans or womans tee or make all t-shirts...

Only reason I'm leaving a 2 star is because this happened today... I told the manager the lady ahead of me had a purse full of items that she is attempting to walk out with. The lady bought a microwave and the manager and the cashier allowed her to walk out with the stolen items today. So I guess it's safe to say the manager and other employees just allow you to steal from this store. The prices they charge for the items is ridiculous but seriously, you're going to allow this lady to walk out with multiple items and not pay for it. Then we should all walk out without paying. They need better management and employees...
