Sushi West — Restaurant in Long Beach

As far as I know this is one of the few sushi restaurants in Long Beach actually operated by Japanese people. So there is some trust as far as quality of food and reasonable pricing. I've been coming here for years and I've only been disappointed one time - and that was bc there was a new guy who made my order and he gave me the wrong fish. I like coming here so often that I didnt even complain and it hasn't happened any other time. I would say if you come here for sushi (NOT rolls) make sure to come early in the day, before 2pm, bc theres only one chef who cuts the fish well and gives you good parts and not ugly ones. Their delivery usually comes earlier in the day so the sooner you come the more fresh it will be. I've brought many friends and family here who ordered more Americanized food and everyone is always happy with their meal. But this is definitely a trustworthy place if you want to find some decent sushi for lunch in long beach. But be warned - this place does get very crowded on a regular basis so I dont rly recommend coming with a party larger than 3 or 4 at the most. Sushi West is our go-to sushi spot whenever we are in LBC and we are super hungry after doing so many errands! The food is deliciously fresh and comes out within 15 minutes or less! There’s an abundance of water cups, so if you’re into water, there’s no awkward area to get water - just get as much cool water you like and it’s complementary! My favorite entree is their salmon teriyaki and I like eating it with tempura and some California rolls! Their portions are generous and come with hot miso soup and rice! Let me emphasize “HOT” miso soup yessssss pipin’ just the way I like it and their rice has a good texture! Not dry at all because they use Japanese sushi rice! Yes, there is a restroom available for customers and there’s plenty of seats inside. Just be careful of the floors because they do keep a clean restaurant! Sushi West is located on Atlantic Avenue near Carson Street in the same shopping center as Edgar & James Goodwill Specialty Store & Donation Center. Sushi West is open 7 days a week, Monday- Friday from 11 am-9 pm with Saturday and Sunday from 11:30-9:00 pm. No indoor or outdoor dining so it's just take-out or on-line orders. Also, they're only allowing one customer per party in the store at this time.

I dropped by for lunch and ordered a two item combination plate that included Sesame Chicken, two Shrimp Tempura and two Vegetable Tempura served with fresh Green Salad w/ House Special Miso Dressing, Steamed Rice & Miso Soup. It's a nice quick and delicious meal to get me through the day. The menu here is expansive and includes traditional Japanese food along with other dishes for beginner sushi lover.
