Thunderbolt Pizza — Restaurant in Long Beach

First coming to the pizza shop, there is a small parking lot (I believe) behind the restaurant as well as plentiful street parking all-around. I came up and took a list at the menu (printed on clipboards both in front of the shop and inside) before coming up to order. The interior was nice with an open kitchen that seemed really chill. I got the pepperoni pizza and the winter white as well as an order of the Ten Mile Hidden Hollow beer that was on tap along with a side order of wings to go! Was told the winter white was just being made if I didn't mind waiting and wanting some fresh pizza, didn't mind the wait.

There was a lot of seating outside with heater lamps which were great and a nice view of the street / plaza around. There were also a ton of different pepper options which was fascinating and different. I tried three different ones on my pizza.

Pizza-wise, both were absolutely delicious. Loved the crust - not too crispy and just right in terms of the fluffy dough. I actually liked the pepperoni the best oddly enough (when usually I am more of a white sauce fan). There was a bit of a nice rich flavor at the end of each bite and a tiny hint of spice that made it memorable. The beer was outstanding as well and was surprised it wasn't an amber / brown ale which it reminded me of. And the wings were so good. I got the blue cheese sauce which was perfect.

Chatted a little bit with the owner - seems like they will be expanding with live music soon which sounds awesome. Looking forward to getting more pizza...

We were visiting from out of town and we were craving pizza and decided to try Thunderbolt Pizza because of the high praise it got.

We were not very impressed with the food we received nor the service. We got a BBQ chicken pizza and a white pizza with mushroom, sausage, and tomatoes. Personally I thought the BBQ chicken pizza was fairly good, but the white sauce pizza lacked in flavor. I will say the crust was extremely good though! Overall, the pizza wasn't anything incredible, but it was pretty good nonetheless. The BBQ Chicken, I would give a 4 star, but the white pizza was around a 3 star, so I would overall give the food a 3.5 stars out of 5.

The customer service was not the best when we were there. It seemed like the staff who would come over to certain tables would favor certain people over others. For example, a staff member would come and fill another tables water, but never once offered to do it for us. I was under the assumption that you had to fill your own water as the water was accessible to customers, so that was what I did. However, it was kind of odd seeing them fill up others cups continuously while skipping other tables entirely. They also seemed to show a more friendly demeanor to other tables compared to us as well. Maybe they could tell that we weren't from California or something, but it just felt like we were the black sheep here and it had us leaving with frustration as it felt like we did something wrong, when all we did was come and eat a couple of pizzas and paid like...

Best vegan pizza I have ever had! I previously lived in New York for 18 years and this pizza lived up to my expectations and more. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who desires authentic NY style thin-crust pizza. I thoroughly enjoyed the white sauce pizza with kale, mushrooms, garlic, parmesan cheese, and the best vegan pepperoni I have ever had. The white sauce was made from scratch and was super flavorful and creamy with nodes of lemon. They currently have a soft-opening menu that is currently being developed and I was told there will be a separate vegan menu soon, with the inclusion of vegan garlic knots! In the meantime, they can make anything vegan and have a large variety of unique vegan options ready to go, including garlic cheese and high quality alternative meats. Overall, this place had a cool and inviting atmosphere. Employees were happy and helpful. Jay, the owner, greeted us at the front register and was extremely friendly. He went around to each table to check in on every customer while also getting to know them. He really went out of his way to cater to everyone's needs.
