The operations of this gym focuses too much on producing merch and maintaining an image vs. focusing on addressing issues of the gym itself.
Been coming here for over a year now and while I really enjoy climbing here and the community at LBR, I just need to flag that some of the amenities have been lacking lately. The women’s sauna has been acting up for at least a month now and sometimes I commute 30 minutes just to stretch and sauna, to find that it’s not working. I’ve flagged this with the front desk several times and even call before heading in to make sure it’s on and that towels are available (a third of the week they’re usually out). Today I turned it on before climbing and 1.5 hours later, it was still just a little warmer than room temp. An employee explained that we’d now have to reach down behind the heater to reset it whenever it needs to be used, which doesn’t seem ideal. The sauna is a really nice perk and I hope this issue can get addressed soon.
It also never really bothered me that the toilet in the third bathroom stall was broken, but it’s odd that it’s taken all of 2023 to fix. The restroom is a really basic amenity of all gyms, and it just seems backwards to see so much attention around new shirts, hoodies, and brand collabs when you could just…fix...
Read moreWe met Grayston when we walked in to check out the gym and his enthusiasm was delightful. It's a spectacular space with a welcoming feel in the common hallway and the cleanest and most spacious bathrooms, worthy of a fancy restaurant. All I do is boulder so it was really fun to try the gym out - I loved it. The pads are great, really comfy to land on. Some of the walls are pretty high so it's good to get your footing. The setting is solid, really great problems with lots of core, maneuvering, technicality, and power. My partner tried some great beginner grades and she found the V0-V2 to be pretty good. I loved the V5-7s and loved the slab wall and the overhangs. The weight room upstairs has an indoor and outdoor portion and you have the moonboard and the hangboards. The staff is great and everyone seems to be on their game when it comes to making sure to keep things clean, distanced, and masked. Parking wasn't bad for us, usually 2 hour spots available. And I think LBR has agreements with a few businesses near them to use their lots at certain hours - it's worth asking them about it. They sell chalk and chalk bags and a few other items. Can't wait for my...
Read moreLove this climbing gym. The staff are amazing, super helpful, there are classes and free resources with membership to teach you bouldering, fitness, yoga and more. The bathrooms have a sauna, showers, full facilities. I train in the gym which overlooks the climbing area and has everything I need to lift and do mobility work. The walls are impressive and even the retail / lounge space is dope and has everything you could ever need. Filtered water machines, snacks, drinks and all sorts of boards and extra gear to specialize your training as well. Been here over a year and it has made me a much better climber. Easily my go to choice to escape. The upstairs is free to kids and others to try, they run local events, reward for riding your bike and all sorts of other community programs and that's really special. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the weekend hours. I've got more time on the weekends and would climb a lot more if I could get in on a Saturday or Sunday night after 6pm. But overall this is my favorite membership facility I've had in a long time and when I bring friends they're stoked about the whole experience....
