Imagine driving 10 hours to and back and spending almost $1000 to have your long hair, all the way to my butt, be chopped uneven and covered with blue toner. This process took 6 hours and 6 people were working on my hair. Anna Kim worked on my hair, prior to this appointment, 6 months ago I went to her with highlights and wanted to have my hair bleached but she said that my roots needed to grow and then she can do it. She did a haircut and scalp treatment for October 2023. I waited for 6 months and finally went to her yesterday, all excited. She then handed me a waiver saying cut and color will be $860 or something and of course I left her a $170 tip so weāre talking about $1000. But the saying that goes: āyou get what you pay forā, does not apply to this salon because 6 people including Anna worked on my hair and this is the result. How is Anna gonna dog on my previous stylist and kept bragging about her work when she gave me a chopped uneven hair covered in blue toner. They kept saying, no worries, once you wash it out the blue toner will be goneā¦so why didnāt they wash it for me? Because they were covering the orange patches. And it was so annoying that every time a different hair stylist would come and try to touch my hair and tell me it looks good. They overdid it and I knew they were acting. Also the fact that I understand Korean, I could pick up on what they would say. And itās so busy with people screaming and bumping into each other. My scalp is on fire and itās itching. I hate that each time someone different would touch and wash my hair even in between washes. I got a guy who was too tough, a woman who barely got the shampoo out and made my dress all wet. Like the inconsistency and the facade was too much. I hated it. 6 hours for this?!? Uneven haircut?!? You had a 24ā hair handed to you and I told you to do whatever you want but Iām very peculiar and want things one color and one length and told you that I hate highlight and layers, and you did this?!? And I told her I donāt like to thin out my hair but she did anyways by using shearing scissors. And one side is so thinned out that even if I get it fixed, itās gonna look skinner and less full. Iām so mad for driving 10 hours to and back, spending 1000 dollars, no offer to order me food for 6 hours, just stale candy from Halloween (while the staff bought all the stylists food and she went in the back ro eat) How is one of the best salon featured in magazines and have won awards?!? How!!!??? The staff is also very annoying. If you want a relaxing experience, go somewhere else because Kenny will be screaming and bumping into people every 10 minutes. You should have never talked badly about my previous hair stylist when this is the best that you could do in 6 hours and 1000 dollars and 5 people helping you. Ridiculous.
Also, look at the second photo, I said I want the bottom of my hair to be untouched with my natural hair, they bleached it on the sides and also the roots. Now that I wash my hair, I have 4 different blondes. What a shame. Never again.
Update: I love how I left a review and 4 reviews came right after mine complimenting Anna Kim specifically and counter arguing how professional the staff were on top of how much they loved their hair just to drown out my review. Please note that customers get 5% discount for leaving review; I know this because there is a sticker on each stylistās mirror. Oh, I had to go to another stylist to fix my uneven cut and have been washing my hair with clarifying shampoo to get the blue out. I filtered the comments to the 1 star and saw some similar to mine. No apologies from the...

I had the worst experience at Atelier, and I feel obligated to share what happened. I have been going to this salon only for root touch-ups, which is usually a simple and quick process. However, my experiences here have been increasingly frustrating and, today, devastating.
The first time I went, I was with Ivy. She was openly rude, complaining about me in Korean (assuming I wouldnāt understand) and making comments about how long my hair is. Despite her attitude, she managed to get the job done. The second time, she continued to complain about my hair length and how long it took her to dry it. Feeling uncomfortable, I decided to switch to a different stylist for my next visit.
I chose Winter, who seemed nicer. However, my first appointment with her took over two hours because she messed up the color initially and had to redo it. While she eventually got it right, it was not a good experience. I decided to give her another chance, hoping it was just a bad day.
Today, I had an appointment with Winter, but it was canceled last minute. I was told that James was available, but when I arrived, I was assigned to another stylist without any explanation. They said, āItās just a root touch-up, she can do it for you.ā I am a quiet person, so I accepted reluctantly.
From the start, the experience was terrible. The color application burned my scalp to the point where my face turned red. I told the stylist that my scalp was burning badly, and she simply handed me a brush and ignored my discomfort. Iāve been coloring my hair for years and have never felt anything like this before.
When she washed my hair, it was left horribly tangled, worse than Iāve ever seen. Knowing this salon lacks products for wavy/curly hair, I brought my own product to detangle, which usually works perfectly. However, it had no effect. My hair was so damaged that even my trusted product couldnāt help. When I applied it, I saw my hair falling out in clumps. I was devastated. I couldnāt even speak when I went to pay because I was crying.
Now, my scalp is burning, and my hair is falling out. I just want to know: why would you do this to someone? If you only know how to work with Asian hair, then please be honest and say so. Tell me you donāt have the right products or experience for my hair type. Instead of damaging someoneās hair, have the courtesy to communicate limitations.
This experience has left me heartbroken. Please, for the sake of your clients, take better care in the future and have consideration for people who trust you with their hair. From the bottom of my heart, I hope no one else has to go through what I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAtelier is a top notch, state of the art hair salon smacked dab in the middle of Koreatown. The place itself is huge. I believe that the whole upstairs is reserved for Atelier alone. Every corner of the salon is beautiful designed with bright, glamorous lights and almost every corner adorned with beautiful chandeliers. Everything looks meticulously planned out and custom designed (I later found out that everything was personally handpicked and created by the owner). You could definitely tell that there was a lot of thought and effort put into setting up this salon. Another plus is that they have a large lot for easy parking.
Onto the service, as soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the workers, one that offers to take your coat and bag. You're escorted to your station, asked if you'd like any of their many offered drinks (free of charge!), magazines or anything else. You can definitely tell from the decor and the service that you're at a high end salon.
Onto the hair, I have personally always followed Tiffany, the owner, for as long as I can remember (almost 14 years?). She's the only one to have touched my hair for the past 14 years. She's friendly, easy to talk to, and most importantly, she's amazing at doing hair! I've gotten my hair cut, permanently straightened through magic straight, have temporarily dyed my hair and even had brazilian keratin treatment multiple times. She can do it all. She's had years of experience and has an impressive, extensive client list ranging from Internationally famous Korean girl groups, Miss Korea, PSY, Male singers like Brian from Fly to the Sky and even baseball players. There's a reason why these people come to her!
Yeah the pricing can be a bit on the higher side but for the quality of service and skill, it's definitely worth it. Especially if you're like me and you get your hair done a few times a year, it's definitely better to spend a bit more and get the best.
To Summarize: Atelier cannot be compared to any other salon. It's beautiful, clean, top notch! Definitely check it out. They do nails, make up, hair, everything! Make an appointment. Ask...
