Loved the vibe of this store and the many local goods but would recommend caution
I bought a beautiful necklace from them that was advertised as solid gold. However after a few days of wearing it I broke out in a rash on my neck. I looked up the piece (designer is Tai Jewelry) and not only found it to be made out of gold vermeil (gold plating over brass NOT solid gold) but that it was $20 cheaper on the designerās website too.
I called the store and they were very apologetic but refused to allow me to return it. I stated that the materials were misrepresented...and they apologized again stating they never would have bought it if they knew it was vermeil due to its high price so it had to have been misrepresented to them too...then provided me a $20 credit (as it was $20 cheaper on the Tai website) to the store... it was a pricey purchase for me and I am unfortunately unable to wear it.
Iām sure this kind of issue rarely occurs and was likely an accident...but their refusal to make it right was very disappointing and felt...

Tip: Black Market has their own parking spaces in front of their store next to Tsujita Annex. Otherwise there's street parking you can pay for but that is...

maybe the novelty simply wore off as i grew up, but it feels as though black market isn't very unique anymore; that is to say, it offers little in terms of differentiating itself from buying clothing/trinkets online or in other stores. its prices range widely, but for the most part, it's overpriced, often for goods that can be found cheaper elsewhere (such as amazon).
although black market is still a cute store to stop by, and the staff are generally friendly (if a little ... intimidating? they make me feel paranoid), i would hardly call...
