El Don Motel — Attraction in Los Angeles

The first thing is to warn you that this hotel is in a bad neighborhood. While I wouldn’t expect to see a heroin overdose just outside, I wouldn’t be surprised either. If you have never been to a big city or don’t feel comfortable in sketchy situations, do not stay here. I grew up in New York City and rode the subway to high school and I know bad neighborhoods when I see them. There is nothing within walking distance which is fine since you probably wouldn’t want to walk anywhere anyway. That said, it is darn cheap for a hotel in L.A. that is a short drive from most everything you would want to go see. I found the bed comfortable, the shower hot with good pressure, there was a mini fridge and microwave, and the clerk knocked on my door for my 9am wake up “call”. I mention that because there is no phone in the room, no alarm clock, and even no tissues. So if Chuck Norris is your spirit animal, give this place a shot. Ik vraag mij af waar al die mensen met een goede beoordeling geslapen hebben?||Op basis van die beoordelingen hebben wij voor onze laatste nacht in LA deze kamer geboekt omwille van de nabijheid van het vliegveld en de goeie score..||||Wat een teleurstelling en ongeloof als je er dan toekomt.||Je moet uw kamer ten eerste al regelen van achter een raam met tralies, een balie is er totaal niet. De wijk waar het gelegen is is rond uit gevaarlijk (een echte getto buurt), de kamers op zich zijn basic en de badkamer is mooi en vernieuwd.||Maar de bedden hebben zo harde matrassen, ik denk dat je nog zachter ligt op de grond. Ook de kussens bieden totaal geen ondersteuning, precies een hoopje lucht.||||Maar dan de grootste afknapper en regelrechte ramp, om de 5 a 10min stijgt er een vliegtuig op vanaf LAX in een baan die vlak boven het motel uitkomt. om de 10min lig je dus te daveren in je bed, zelf met oordopjes is het lawaai nog oorverdovend.||||Wij hebben nog een paar uurtjes kunnen slapen door middel van zware slaappillen, na dat we eerst nog een uur zitten twijfelen hebben om gewoon in de auto te springen en nog ergens een last minute...
