I actually was very happy with my first experience with Extra Space Storage today. I recently moved and I have a great many things that no longer serve me and I need to give them away. However, during this time of Covid 19 the usual organizations that accept donations of clothing and household items are not open, it makes it impossible to give them away.
The items will help many women who might want to refresh their wardrobe without having to spend large amounts of money, to pick up quality, slightly worm clothing. So I need a place to store them an other items that are for safekeeping.
I was looking for a storage facility near me, in addition my son told me that he had a very pleasant experience himself with this company. So, I made the call and I'm very glad that I did.
I was able to reserve the unit that I wanted online, the process was painless and didn't take but a few minutes of my time. Once the selection was made I received a call from one of the managers.
My conversation with Steve was totally painless and I actually signed the contract and made my first payment over the phone. It was over the phone to help keep everyone safe . I appreciated that effort due to the times we are living in it was important for me to see that this company was following guidelines of protection for their employees and customers.
I have to mention that the cost of the space for me was really important and I received a unit that is half of the cost of what I would pay elsewhere. Everything was communicated very well and the unit is in a convenient location for business use.
Upon returning on my third visit today at 3:55 PM I learned that they’re already limited gate hours are actually falsely represented by 10 minutes.
This is because the keypad shuts down 10 minutes before gate hours end.
So they do not have gate hours until 7 PM or 6 PM or 4 PM
Rather the hours that they have would be 6:50 PM 5:50 PM 4:50 PM
If you get here, one minute past ten minutes to the posted gate hours, there is no entry.
This needs to be posted clearly across all channels that display their gate hours.
Especially right there on the sign that’s on the gate.
To be safe, just take 30 minutes off of their already limited posted gate hours.
To make the situation even more interesting a woman pulled up just after me as stated the exact same thing to the associate working.
I must note the associate did make the exception to let me in but it came with far too much push back.
The woman after me on the other was let it nearly 1 minutes to gate hours of 4:00PM and it took her zero time at all to get the worker open the gate.
Definitely seems like the woman even later than me was treated with better service. As she walked in and out of the office in less then 30 seconds and the gate was opened for her.
Something needs to be done right away to correct the proper posting of gate hours and staff MUST inform all renters of this...
Read moreLast week I moved my small business inventory and supplies from Public Storage (PSA) to this Extra Space (EXR) ocation. I am very surprised at the higher quality at EXR compared to PSA: 1- security system at EXR allows access only to the floor that you rent on, but PSA allows access to any floor; 2- EXR has large lobby office with water cooler and restrooms, which is a huge boon to hot and tired workers; 3- EXR has smooth concrete floors, but my PSA location had painted plywood floors which had to be repainted periodically and that repainting restricted my access to my stuff; 4- EXR at this location has a live-in manager who fixes problems promptly, for example the security gate malfunctioned and in fifteen minutes he somehow materialized at the gate and fixed it without anybody calling him; 5- EXR has a separate, locked room for small shipments for customers, so if you want to accept small shipments you don't have to give EXR your key the way you do at PSA; 6- EXR has access 6a to 10p, but my PSA location was only 6a to 9p. I am very glad I moved to EXR. Warning, however: don't call the toll-free number to book your space, use the website instead and you will get a cheaper rate. I tried the toll-free number first, and then I hung up and tried the website and I saved a lot of money. By the way, the EXR stock is doing better than the PSA stock right now too. I dunno why.
