"Beware! GameStop's Money-Hungry Tactics Will Empty Your Wallet!"
I recently had the displeasure of dealing with GameStop, and let me tell you, it was a nightmare. From the moment I walked into the store, I felt like I had a target on my back, and the employees were ready to pounce on me and drain every last penny from my wallet.
First of all, the prices for their used games are absurdly high. I could practically buy a brand-new game for the same price elsewhere, but GameStop seems to think their scratched-up, beat-up copies are worth their weight in gold. It's like they believe their used games have some magical powers that make them more valuable than anywhere else.
And don't even get me started on their trade-in system. They claim to offer you a fair value for your games, but in reality, it's a highway robbery. I brought in a stack of games, some of which were practically new, and they offered me a laughably poor amount of in-store credit (which you cannot use on the same day; you gotta visit again and spend even more money to get that credit discount applied). It's as if they have a secret mission to make sure you leave with as little money as possible.
The cherry on top of this terrible experience was the pushy sales tactics. The employees kept trying to upsell me on unnecessary warranties and accessories, almost like they were desperate to meet some sales quota. I felt like I was being harassed rather than assisted.
If you value your hard-earned money, steer clear of GameStop. There are plenty of other retailers and online options where you won't feel like you're being taken advantage of. GameStop's eagerness to snatch every penny from your pocket is downright shameful. Save yourself the frustration and find a more customer-friendly...
Read moreUnhelpful, inattentive, unprofessional. I could list few other “qualities” of the associate, but I’d spare me the time. Without even verifying Joanna stated buy 3 get 2 free is online only deal. I checked online before coming, so I showed her the promotion online. I guess, that ticked her off. Because she wouldn’t “find” the game even if it says available in that particular store. Finally, Natasha (manager/mod) found the games which 2 of the other SA (including Joanna) couldn’t “find”.
The store is well organized, but needs some serious attention from the management. The tags are wrong (SA wouldn’t honor it), total unwillingness of looking for products if they’re not on display, not “finding” the dvd when u find the case from display, gossiping or chatting with each other while guests are in store, asking each other to ring the customer while standing idle. Most of the stuffs can be done with attitude adjustment & attentiveness of the management. As a pro member & shareholder of GameStop, I’m truly & utterly disappointed at Joanna’s behavior & the...
Read moreBEWARE | BAIT & SWITCH Waiting in line I see the store boss give a cryptic transmitted look to the other employee. I shook it off. When I go to pay I am made aware that my account is basically "no good" no discounts can be applied, etc. I get the pitch to move into a better upgraded account for a low price, that will be paid for by the lower price on the games I was buying. Fine, felt right. After looking at the receipt I see a $15 charge for a subscription of magazines I never discussed with the employee. I told the guy to be transparent. There where 3 people behind me otherwise I would have had an ethics discussion with the two of them. Sad how at such a young age these 2 gentlemen are already being bred to compromise with their ethics (aka lie) to move store numbers and...
