One of the worst customers services I have experience in long time. I have ordered their most know item which was Beef Hamburg. I went with one other person and her food came out about 20 min later... and I waited for another 30min and food didnt come out, so I asked waitress about my order. Its been about 1 hours at this point and she came back and told me after 1 hour later they didnt have sauce in stock and they couldnt prep my food. Really 1 hour later....when I was asking them. At this point I just wanted to leave and asked for bill for one of our order. And they charged more on the bill, again I complained and it took other 10 min to get have them fix the bill. Now its been 1 hour 20min and they asked we wanted to free food they are willing to prep the food. This happened 10/20 8:00PM. If owner happened to read this thread PLEASE trained your workers.

This note is after your response-- TO OWNER you dont have the facts straight. IF YOU HAVE CC Camera why dont you take a look at what happend that day before you come to conclusion. Once we went there we seat there for 20min before some came to take our order. Get the facts per your statement you said your waitress brought different dish to me. Are you kidding me? YOUR WAITRESS NEVER BROUGHT ANYTHING, I asked for my order and then she realized Your busy cook forget to tell waitress they dont have sauce and they couldnt make the food. Which information was NEVER PASS ON TO CUSTOMER. WE WAITED OTHER 10 MIN AND YOUR WAITER CAME OVER TO SEE IF WE WANTED FREE FOOD AFTER 1 HOURS. I TOLD YOUR waiter NO AND I ASKED FOR BILL AND YOUR WAITER/WAITRESS CHARGED MORE ON THE BILL. I DIDNT GET MY FOOD AND WAITED FOR HOUR AND I GET CHARGED MORE...???????? HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL. AND ALSO LOOK AT YOUR RESPOSE. YOU KNOW WHAT I would've SAID, IF I WERE TO RESPONSE BACK TO CUSTOMER? MY FIRST LINE WILL BE...I AM SORRY TO HEAR YOUR FEEDBACK... YOU ARE TELLING ME TO HAVE SOME PATIENCE... YOU Were not even at THE STORE STORE THAT DAY, I DONT NEED TO GO BACK TO YOUR STORE AND NOT TELL SOMEONE TO GO THERE IN THE FUTURE FROM MY BAD experience. IF YOU ARE GOING TO OPEN UP THE STORE in covid crisis, you should really appreciate your customers. Instead of lying and not putting the right facts about your mistakes. Treat like that to few more customers and see what will happens, I am sure you will have lots of...

This place is meh :/ this is definitely a hipster place, which means it is such a instagram material, but not tastey. This food (cook your own katsu/ hamburg) was a trend last year in S. Korea, so seem like they brought it in LA. So I tried, and was disappointed at their food. This place is cute, decoration and drawings for menu are adorable, comfy casual atmosphere and friendly staff. This is something those "I Love Japan!!" people would love to come. But first of all, their menu does not describe the food correctly. I ordered Tokyo Hamburg with Egg, and description says "hamburg tastes better with egg" or something like that. I imagined regulat fried egg on top of the hamburg. But it wasnt. I was like where is the egg? It was not the fried egg I thought. Its like eggwater was cooked by the heat of the metal plate and got layered as another plate under hamburge (see photo). I mean..um.. presentation wise..this can be taken as creative.. but was not easy to eat the egg... so if it is hard to eat egg and it is just there for decoration..what's the point of ordering Hamburg with "egg" instead of hamburg alone..? It got me confused.. And they give you this small hot stone to cook your own hamburg meat. I do not recommend ordering his menu. Because it is really bad idea. They bring you a chunk of grounded meat, it just looks good as regular hamburg dish. And now, you need to cut the "chunk" into small pieces first, than cook it. Dont, never, order this menu if you are hungry. It is not easy to cut it into pieces with the knife you get. It takes few minutes just to cut, another few minutes to cook. It takes about 5 minutes just to cook out this "small piece" and theres much more left. And the taste was not amazing..i mean its just ..small piece of grounded meat.

My friend ordered kyukatsu, which also is cook your own, but this one was a lot better to cook as it is server sliced into pieces. But the batter was not crispy at all, it still you really need to be paitient unless you want to eat it as it is served. Meat quality was not bad but nothing tasted special it's just cooked meat..with cold-not-crispy-fried-batter. Next time it i visit, i would order the one that's been cooked.. it just consumes too much of the time and the food is not worth for the effort.. Other than that, this place is very average asian casual cuisine, to come with...

Please read if thinking about going here POST Covid-19 pandemic! Contains both negative and positive review.

I understand the pandemic had an immensely negative impact on many restaurants. Including food quality, high prices, and quantity. Unfortunately, I feel that it was completely unfair of the changes Tokyo Hamburg went through. Four pieces of cheese pork cutlet for the price of $13-15 is a bit excessive. On top of that, the service quality dropped so hard, I don't believe I will ever return to this place. Our server, young male with glasses, not only rushed our orders, but he also forgot one order completely. There were 4 of us and he brought the food and was about to leave until I had to call him back about the dish I ordered. Then he rushes back and came back twice to update that 1. The order was placed and 2. That the food will be out in 2 minutes. After he brought the food out, he disappeared and never returned. When he came to check on a table behind us, we were finally able to get his attention to receive the check (we were waiting for over 10 minutes after we had finished eating). He takes a very short time to bring our check, then he disappeared again. It turns out, he left to give himself a smoke break. The bill was paid, and since the server had not yet returned (after another 5-10 minutes) we took our bill and payment to another worker and had them take care of it.

Positive note for this review:

  1. Their takoyaki is still amazingly delicious! Of course, again the pandemic hit restaurants hard, so I understand them giving less on a plate.
  2. According to the customer behind us, the hamburg steak is delicious. Perhaps, I should have ordered that rather than a disappointing pork cutlet that looked like it was microwaved.

Thank you for reading and I hope this helps the restaurant and future/potential customers know what they are...

Has anyone ever had hamburger patty steak before? I thought I wouldnโ€™t like it but it turns out Iโ€™m lowkey a fan ๐Ÿ˜‚.
