I LOVE this Korean market. Even when I lived in Pleasanton, I would make the long drive down to Hankook Market to pick up our Korean essentials.

Just the other day, I was amazed at how much stuff I was able to get for under a total of $90. The prices for produce, meats and packaged foods are SO competitive compared to grocery stores like Safeway! Plus, I am able to get things like Perilla (Sesame) seed leaves, Daikon radish, and Korean pears, which aren't always available at Safeway.

This past trip, I got:

-Ramen: 2 different kinds. One was a unique stir fried jjampong, and the other was Samyang ramen for $3! That's $0.60 per packet! -Sliced porkbelly: Sold by lb and mine came out to about $11. Such a good deal! Produce: Handful of carrots for under a dollar, green cabbage and green onions for dirt cheap. Korean specialty items: I got dried kelp! Where else can you find dried kelp? This is a staple to make Korean soup stocks. Korean rice cakes (so many different kinds) Silken tofu to make soondubu. Korean red pepper paste. I got the less spicy kind. Kimchi, pre-sliced and delicious! Special Korean carbonated drinks (Hwalmyungsoo) on sale! All kinds of fishcakes!

I am so happy with the variety and the prices at this market. The only thing that I dislike is how crowded and chaotic it can get. It's like Costco at peak hours! You need to dodge carts and people left and right! But just be aggressive and you'll...

So apparently HK Mart and HanKook Mart are one and the same... Cuz when I saw HK...I was thinking HongKong...oops....

Parking is available... Just be careful as the parking spots are very tight and try to come at a off time as the parking lot can get very crowded. FYI

I didn't know what to expect when I walked in... This was the second Korean grocery store that I've been to since moving to LA...I figured that branching out of the Korean Town plaza grocery store was a good idea. :)

It was very very crowded and kind of in the dirtier side in my opinion. But the amount if stuff they were able to squeeze in was mind blowing. I did the aisle by aisle grocery shopping just to see what they carried and boy did they carry ALOT. The produce was good and from what I could tell it was decently priced. I was able to find everything plus more of what I was looking for. :) I was able to restock all my Korean grocery needs here.

Just gotta say though... All those older ladies (ah joom mahs) yelling out their wares were cool for all of 5 minutes... After that it got really annoying and LOUD. It got crazy loud.

But they did have a decent banchan selection and the quality was good. I just wished that they had a bigger selection.

Overall, it was a good Korean Grocery store. Will I be back... Probably... But there are so many more Korean grocery stores that I...

I had a terrible shopping experience at the store yesterday on May 13, 2023. When I arrived at 9:25 pm, all the frozen food and veggies were already covered with a special cover and the lights in the fridges were off, making it hard to find anything. At 9:40 pm, an employee told me I had only 5 minutes left, which was already frustrating given the difficulty of shopping due to all the cold items being covered and the fish fridge having no light. Then at 9:45 pm, I was rudely told that the store was closed and that I had to go to the checkout. When I asked what time they closed because I had never experienced this before, a young employee told me to rush to the cashier. While waiting for the cashier, I tried to grab an ice cream which was only 1 meter from the cashier place, but I was almost yelled at to check out immediately. The cashiers and employees on the floor were very rude. Almost all employees left after I left a store at around 9:47, making me feel like they just wanted to go home early and rushed me with my shopping. This was a very unprofessional experience, and I didn't expect this from such...

Feast your eyes on this crispy, golden perfection fried chicken! The whole fried chicken is from HK Market in Koreatown. Keep walking past the soju and instant noodles and you’ll see HK Chicken! They sell Korean pancakes, sweet potatoes, fried chicken wings, and a whole chicken! I had to order one to try. It’s perfectly crispy on the outside and so tender the meat fell off the bone. So juicy on the inside and she’s going at it again. Let me get some of this before this woman eats my whole bird. It’s fresh and hot, making it a great option for a quick and satisfying meal. It comes with hot sauce and pickled radish that’s crunchy, sweet and tangy. $17 from HK Market in Koreatown The Korean pancakes shaped like carp are called "Bungeoppang." It’s a popular street food in Korea and these have a sweet filling, red bean paste.
