Discover the hidden gem of Los Leones Canyon Loop, a breathtaking 5-mile trail that will leave you in awe of nature's wonders. As a local in this area, I can confidently say that this is my go-to trail, offering an unforgettable hiking experience that surprisingly hasn't been shared on AllTrails before.

Prepare to be captivated by the mesmerizing beauty of this loop, as it treats you to a fully immersive adventure with panoramic 360-degree views of the ocean and West Los Angeles. The journey commences with an invigorating challenge, as you ascend steadily from the gates towards the majestic Parker Mesa Overlook. The ascent demands your perseverance, rewarding you with awe-inspiring heights that provide an unrivaled vantage point over the entire canyon.

Upon conquering the initial quarter of the loop, a sense of accomplishment washes over you, complemented by the enchanting vistas that unfold before your eyes. Take a moment to catch your breath and rest on the benches thoughtfully placed at the overlook, where you can soak in the tranquility and splendor of the surroundings.

Continuing along the trail, you'll find respite in an easy stroll along the wide East Topanga Fire Road. Here, you can fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of these idyllic locations, relishing the opportunity to simply enjoy the serenity of the area. As you traverse this section, let the enchanting scenery rejuvenate your spirit and invigorate your senses.

As the final quarter of the loop approaches, you'll embark on the popular Los Leones Canyon Trail. While it may seem easy, especially as you begin the descent, don't underestimate the charm that lies within. This trail provides a fresh perspective, allowing you to appreciate the surrounding landscapes from a different angle. It's the perfect culmination to a memorable hiking experience.

In terms of difficulty, the Los Leones Canyon Loop can be considered moderate to hard. However, seasoned hikers may find the initial ascent less challenging, completing it in less time. For those who are less experienced, ensure you have the appropriate gear, particularly sturdy boots, to tackle the trails with confidence.

One of the many reasons I adore this loop is its efficient design, allowing you to begin and end at the same point. This means no backtracking and the opportunity to continually appreciate the changing perspectives of these incredible locations.

The beauty of Los Leones Canyon Loop lies not only in its adventurous nature but also in the fact that it can be completed in just under three hours, assuming a moderate pace. It provides an ideal blend of exercise and awe-inspiring views, making it a perfect choice for those seeking a fulfilling outdoor experience without sacrificing too much time.

Embark on this hidden gem of a trail, where every step brings you closer to natural wonders and breathtaking vistas. Los Leones Canyon Loop eagerly awaits, ready to infuse your spirit with the indescribable beauty of the...

love, love, love!!! the initial part, the actual namesake los liones trail is maybe 1-1.5mi of skinny path, almost tropical feeling, surrounded by greenery on both sides, some steep sides, but nothing too scary (im afraid of heights and it doesn't bother me) .. then you'll get to the fire road, which can lead you out to a beautiful outlook 2-2.5mi up, there are 2 benches, nice to sit on after a mostly uphill and pretty steep hike on the fire road. there's another option, where you can take the outlook trail or another trail which says it's 2.7mi, which i haven't been on yet, small wood stakes at the fork tell you which way is which. i personally love this hike!! it's a great 2.5-4 hr/~18k steps hike round trip depending on how fast you walk and how long you take in the views. it's a legit workout, and can be made more difficult by taking the further 2.7mi path (one way i think) at the top, or running intermittently up the fire trail. there's another way to get up to where the fire road starts, to skip the first part, which is dangerous in less light/ the dark, you can look up the connecting street that dumps you off right there on Google maps, i don't know the name, as i prefer the los liones part, but it'd be better for people who have less sure footing or bikes, lots of rocks and tree roots the first mile ..

not a super clear day, but always...

Almost as crowded as Runyon Canyon. Parking can be tough too. Very easy hike though. We decided to give this trail a try because we didnt have a lot of time to hike. First thing i noticed is there were a LOT of cars parked like...dang all these people are here too. Felt like Kanyes house on a Sunday.

Start hiking and there are a ton of people on the trail. People were nice for the most part but others had no clue about hiking etiquette. If someone is coming down hill you give them the right of way and move a side. If someone missteps coming down the mountain it can be very bad.

Another bummer was that people didnt respect the no dog on the trail policy. I LOVE DOGS and I would love to bring my dogs everywhere I go but theres a good reason why this is one of the trail rules. but... humans are selfish... These trails are very very small and yes there are RATTLESNAKES.... Respect the rule, leave the dog at home, I saw someone coming down the hill almost fall flat on their face tripping over someones dog... the trail is NARROW PEOPLE!

Overall a very easy hike if you can get past all the people, like the dudes trying to run on a very small and crowded hiking trail. OY....

Fun...
