Unseemly. We were looking for a casual place to go on our way home from hiking, and saw that this was one of the few in the area open before 5:00pm. We noticed it was in a strip-mall, so we figured it might fit the bill since we were in hiking attire.
Upon arrival, we saw a small four-table outdoor seating area--perfect because we were hoping to not leave our dog in the car. And another pleasant surprise was that we arrived just at happy hour.
Service was great: they even brought out a little water bowl for our dog, and didn't seem one bit annoyed when we had to refuse the ice. Despite being outside and there very early in the day, we were tended to very well.
Food quality: A+. Very much surpassed my expectations. Fresh, generous, and well presented. We mostly ordered nigiri and they did not disappoint one bit. Freshly grated wasabi.
Price: a tad bit on the higher end, but it worked out with happy hour. And honestly, after the meal, I would've been completely okay with regular pricing now that I know how good the food and service is.
Very pleased to have stumbled...
Read moreA great spot off PCH, serving a fusion of Japanese with other Asian influences, great sushi & lots of other unique near-gourmet type dishes, salads, sashimi, etc, and surprisingly good Thai food as well! Plus the usual fare you'd find at a moderately priced (for this area) Japanese restaurant. Hard not to find something to like here, no matter your relationship to sushi. Absolutely delicious pad thai and garlic salmon, like crazy good. Impressive special rolls, big menu of options . The vibe is modern and just nice enough without being stuffy, has flat screens but they're not in your face, roomy, good for families, dates or special occasions. Good for takeout. Nothing else quite like it around. In a strip mall with a Starbucks, just off Sunset near the ocean. Beer, wine, sake. Stuff for...
Read moreChanced upon dining at this restaurant was pleasantly surprised they have a small menu of Thai food too. Ambience wise is your old school American sushi decor, however don’t let it fool you because the food and service were above expectations. After trying the lobster roll, I went ham and ordered the OTORO,seared salmon truffle, crunchy spicy tuna & Uni (Santa Barbara sea urchin) it was so delicious. Last but not least, the lead waiter name Bank highly suggested to try the “Drunken udon” and I was happy I took the chance of this fusion dish done so right! Udon was Q, texture was chewy had a slight bounce, crispy tofu gave it a complex texture with a dimension of sensations when eaten! Highly...
