Warning Long Review But Worth The Read:
Grab your popcornâŠ
Terrible experience with this non profit. I reached out to path, for assistance in finding a home, security deposit assistance, and utility assistance. I needed moving assistance because I can no longer stay at my current residence due to a severe knee injury that I had. I live on the top, third level of an apartment building with no elevator and I am at risk of injuring myself due to my having to use the stairs daily. Everyday I feel pain and physically struggle due to my disabilities and where I am living. At times I cannot walk.
I received an email from âBecky Bredaâ a specialist there. We were emailing and she told me to call her. Soon as I called her she instantly was aggressive and said I need to pay my own bill, only referring to my utility bill assistance request. She said I need to pay my bill myself because I make enough money. She was yelling at me through the whole conversation. She spoke for me and spoke over me whenever I tried to speak. She was extremely unprofessional and was too aggressive to speak to. I remember asking her âwhy are you being so hostile towards me?â I had to hang up the phone because I could not get a word in. She kept saying that I received assistance from them last year, but I never did. She kept saying things that werenât true about me it was very unacceptable. She said, âI work, (referring to herself) I budget, do you budget!â
That conversation was traumatizing. I acted on a grievance with Path due to their employee. What Path decided to do was have there grievance councilor give me a call and have Beckyâs supervisor on the line.
The grievance counselor and Beckyâs supervisor just heard me out and said that they will talk to her pretty much. They also said that they will have another employee follow up with me to see if any assistance can be given to me. Another employee reached out to me âGabriela Valdepenaâ but had inaccurate information about me as well, however I could correct it this time. She said she would call me back after she gathered some more information. She never called me back.
I reached back out to the grievance department to request that she call me back. Then, she called me back. After we finally spoke again, Gabriela Valdepena told me that I could not be helped with a security deposit. This was the only thing she tried to discuss with me about. She said because I am not homeless or at risk of being homeless.
I told her I am at risk of being injured or possibly passing away due to my living conditions and my injury, so I donât see how I am not eligible. She ignored what I said and continued to say I am not eligible for assistance. Then she said I can receive the security deposit from my current residence. That was irrelevant information because of course I know that and thatâs not going to help me move I need security deposit assistance in order to move now.
After she told me that I cannot be helped with security deposit assistance she tried to end the conversation. I said âOkay, what about the utility assistance?â She said âyou cannot be helped with utility assistance because you have to have a loss of income.â
At this point, I knew she was not trying to help me with anything. However, I went ahead and asked one more thing because she ignored discussing that as well, I said can I be helped in finding a home. She said âwe can send you leadsâ I said OK thank you. Iâm still waiting for the leads. This was my...
Read moreThe PATH Hollywood Garden suites is housing the worst of the homeless liers and thieves of Hollywood it is infested with people who need a place to stick needles in their arms as well as violent brass nuckel wielding punks; and female weed dealers who kick your door in because you don't want their weed as well as the cartel wannabe crystal meth dealers who sell to a number of the security personal there much of what goes on there needs to be exposed to the public and any sponsors who support this place. I have observed several deaths there which may have been due to carbon monoxide leaking from old refrigerators in some of the units or the very drugs being sold there on campus but I noticed that I was aways fatigued and drossy while living there which I believe was due to carbon monoxide from the old refrigerator. I also noticed that my roommates only slept in my room just one night per week for the entire six months I resided there and I have no idea where they slept when they went out. The staff there acted as if they didn't care about my complaints or people with physical disabilities as I am hearing impared. Living there was a complete nightmare as I could not sleep because every roommate I had would come and go in and out at all hours of the morning then returning at 6 am yelling at me and threatening to cause injury and bodily harm to me when in fact security is supposed to have keys to all the door locks on the property as I told them that I cannot hear anything after I remove my hearing aids and it was not my responsibility to open the after 2 am as I agreed with my roommates that I would not expect them to open the door for me should I come to the room at such an hour. So I also wonder why security did not have a key to the dead-bolt lock on my door. All of what I have written is true as I also have a witness there on campus to confirm my testimony and I am certain that all the corruption which is going on in this awful place will be exposed and put to an end as it is no place for anyone who wants a new begining for a fresh start at a better life. PATH is only it in this business for the path of a substantial surplus of wealth from the afflictions, pain and suffering of continued drug users abusers. This organization is not a part of the solution it is one of the causes and fuel for the problem. So believe a little bit of what you see, only some of what you hear and everything that...
Read moreVery helpful. They help with meals, a bed, bathing (showers), assist (if needed) with various appointments like a Dr, Social Services, and any other appointments a person might have.
If a person has dietary restrictions and is made known to the assigned PATH Social Worker, they'll do their best to accommodate.
If a person is on any medicine regimen (pills, tablets, and anything requiring a syringe to administer) then to complete the required task, such is the responsibility of the client as PATH does not assist with the administration (delivering...ensuring a person is taking their medicine) of medicine. Why? PATH believes that all clients are adults and capable of taking care of business as adults without the need to be treated as children. Once a person is able to secure their housing (with or without the assistance of the assigned Case Worker), a person is considered as capable of being independent (starting from day 1 as a PATH client) and has no need to be treated any differently, and therefore will not be. All PATH clients are expected to meet certain minimum rules as requirements for the safety, protection, and good of all members of the PATH community.
The Madison location (Madison Ave/St?) has 3 floors. 1st floor is administration, 2nd floor is ladie's dorm/housing, and 3rd is men's dorm/housing.
The staff in general is helpful. Most are able to answer most questions, while some questions a Case Worker or upper site management can answer. Some questions may require a little time to research before answering.
The maximum length of stay is 90 (3 months), and may be extended all depending upon various circumstances, and PATH requires to see you doing your part as much as possible to secure long term housing. A Case Worker will suggest resources and other tools to help so a person is not just wondering around aimlessly as the time keeps passing. They really do want all clients off of the streets, and that requires participation of the client which means that each client must also want permanent housing as strongly enough to do everything needed in order to get it. Permanent housing does not happen overnight, so patience and other things must be exercised. A person must do everything possible in the meanwhile.
