There is something seriously lacking with this stuff, starting with the hosts. The middle eastern lady won’t let you talk to her and acts like she is working for some confidential top secret agency. Relax. You are working for the Steady Hostel, dear, we know they can’t be paying you that well.
My daughter was asked to leave because the staff accused her of stealing some food from the communal kitchen. Mind you, they do this to plenty of other guests whether they have left or whether they decide it is the food or guests actively still staying. What despicable kind of behavior is this? Utterly blasphemous, I just have no words for the horrid experience my daughter has had here.
Then when she packed all her luggage to leave this place as per staff members’ request, she left the luggage by the door and went to grab coffee with a floor mate from Steady Hostel. After being stuck in traffic and getting stuck, they came back a little late. Much to my daughter’s dismay, my daughter’s baggage was stolen by then. Whether you believe it not, though you should, the owner of the hostel showed absolutely no remorse.
But thankfully, my daughter was smarter than to just give up. She was quick to make police report of the incident along with cctv footage the owner grudgingly gave into giving after she did her due diligence in asking for it over and over again. Fortunately, the bank allowed an instant refund after hearing of the utterly terrible service at The Steady.
Oh, get this! Upon booking her new stay at a new location in Koreatown, at an address listed under a fake one so that the place seems fancier, the owner of the listing cancelled her reservation. He did this the day of so that he didn’t seem shady, but joke’s on him. That was STILL shady, and he happens to be the same owner running The Steady Hostel. What does that say to you? This man doesn’t care about the well being of his guests at all. You are just a paycheck! And a transaction.
Also, the heater wasn’t working last I heard. Maybe the owner should take his residual cash from his earnings and apply it to some proper heating for his...
Read moreThese guys have a maximum stay limit of two weeks, and I know why: If they didn't, nobody would ever leave!||||What I loved about this place is how they manage to have such a good balance. I have a decent amount of hosteling experience and I feel that often a place is either clean and strict, or relaxed but dirty, but this place gets it just right: It's super clean and well-taken care of, but at the same time the atmosphere as well as the management is super relaxed and chill. The guests are definitely not the typical "LA tourist" type, most of the people there seemed very individualistic, with the majority of them being solo travelers. They tend to keep themselves but are still up for a little chat. Again, it's the perfect balance. It's a friendly place but not a party hostel. In many hostel dormitories people come and go all night, turning on the lights and making a lot of noise, but this wasn't the case here. The lights went out pretty early, and whoever came in late would make an effort not to disturb the other people. Most of their rooms are regular dorms with bunk beds, but for just a few bucks more you can get a pod with a curtain and your own light, which I highly recommend. It's not always easy to get a good night's rest in hostels, but I slept really well here. Everything is very clean and there's a common area with plants and cozy warm vibes, it's all quite small but never feels crowded, even if they're completely booked. I would also like to add that I'm someone who struggles with all sorts of allergies, including dust and certain cleaning agents, and I had no issues here at all, which again speaks for the cleanliness of the place. Without a doubt one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at and probably the best deal you can get in LA. It's the sort of place you kinda don't want to tell anyone about because you want to keep it a secret, which is probably why nobody has written a...
Read moreI was mortified. I wasn’t even going to leave a review, I was giving them a chance to remedy the situation and make it right, but they refused to do so. This place is disgusting, from the front door to the bed. The staff is not helpful, whatsoever, they speak as if they’re an automated person. The bathroom was awful, bugs everywhere, mysterious spots, hair clumps in the shower, the room was dirty and there was a foul odor that didn’t seem safe to inhale, it was so strong and toxic I couldn’t sleep there, I left and slept in my car. I took pictures of how nasty it was and wish I could post them. Dirt on the walls in the pod, the pillow was old and yellow, the sheets were dirty and smelled bad, there was also some hard brown substance left under my sheet, I almost threw up at the site of it. It was awful. Do not stay here, there’s hostels all over that area that are better and cheaper. They are a joke and should be shut down, it’s so bad I’m calling the health department, no one should have to live in those conditions, not even for a night. Please be cautious, especially if you’re a WOMAN! I was in the bathroom and the staff thought it would be a good idea to bring a man in to show him around, while I’m exposed, no knocking or anything. Don’t waste your money. This place is absolute trash.
RESPONSE:
I’m actually really happy you responded, it made me recover the photos and come back to this review and finally was able to add them. Say what you want about my PERSONAL feelings and speculations on how my day was going, I get you have to justify your actions and defend your business, cool, but your hostel is still disgusting, with or without my PERSONAL opinion. And extort you for a $30 stay? lol please, you sound ridiculous. Who wouldn’t want some type of accommodation after being set up with such a NASTY establishment, that I didn’t...
