Evolve: The Men's Resale Store — Attraction in Louisville

I had a very poor experience while visiting this store for the first time yesterday. (I’m writing a review fully knowing that the owner will come on attack with some comment about how his store is wonderful and I must be in the wrong (see the comments below for history.) My review is just my observation - take it for what it’s worth.

First, the store had moderate-end consignment goods, brands like Izod, JCrew, Polo, Express, etc. Don’t get me wrong - each of these brands has nice clothes but not what I’d expected to see. Maybe it was just timing...

Second, we were initially treated with a kind welcome, but within five minutes the owner (assuming he was the owner) started making disparaging remarks about someone in town who we happen to personally know and respect. This was a deal killer for me - I prefer not to do any kind of business with someone who would potentially go around talking about me with strangers. I don’t begrudge him from having his opinions but sharing them with strangers did not make a good impression.

Overall, sub-par brands/quality and poor service.

Update: make that two individuals in town you spoke poorly about - we know the one you confessed but the other was also a respected...

I have tried to consign a few men's dress shirts here at this establishment a few times but every time I've never been treated very well. The staff act arrogant and pompous, which makes me leaving with a feeling of not wanting to do business with them anyway. My husband is in his late 30s, a VP of finance at a large nationwide company and has, what I would consider very nice, trendy styled business clothes. Most of his shirts are Lululemon, buttercloth and a few express collared shirts. He wears them a few times then gets bored with them and moves on. I hate to take such nice, barely worn expensive stuff to goodwill, so I've always preferred selling the shirts first. This is the only men's consignment shop I know of but I would rather sell it myself online then consign with this store. The staff are condescending every single time. Just had the absolute BEST experience at Evolve! My 19 year old son needed an outfit for a job interview and because he is 6’5 and hard to fit for clothing, I thought we might get lucky and find something at Evolve instead of going to the usual stores at the mall. Best decision ever! The owner took so much time with us to make sure we found him clothing (and even shoes!) that fit well and looked great on him! It’s the kind of service you would expect at a high end men’s shop but with consignment store prices that are extremely reasonable. We needed help and asked him to assist us with a head to toe look, but he was a very no-pressure type of sales guy who would totally leave you alone to shop if you didn’t specifically ask for help. Great service, selection and prices, I just can’t say enough good things...
