Posting a negative — ish review on one of my former places for sustainability. I really don’t like to but I am torn as there have been better days there. Let me start without a scathing review and only point out some easy things I can say right off the top.
I can only find about 60 % of the produce I came in for. This is habitual, always the case. *I find processed produce ( premixed salads trays etc; that aren’t labeled or labeled anywhere properly for price display. So it doesn’t, o it NEVER get to my cart if it doesn’t have a readable price.
*The meats section always has tiny flimsy bags. This is an issue I resolved by grabbing them from produce first. The bags in fruits and veggies are actually what one needs in meat departments! The flimsy veggies bags are in the meat section? And they don’t even fit around a cut of chicken breasts.m let alone tough enough for pork loins and whole chicken weight. It’s a joke that still runs in that store. *There is always a bottleneck in the section in the back with the cheese and frozen fish, bacon etc and there is always someone who is stocking them that is just blocking the entire lane. I usually skip it.
I can go on but I stopped shopping there six months or more back but figured I would give it another chance. Nothing has changed. It’s a very confusing layout and doesn’t make sense no matter how many times I go. I am always wandering around searching for items as if I am on a through hike of the place or a trying my best to follow a scavenger hunt. It’s very inconvenient and to be honest the quality of the produce is pure rubbish. Breads go moldy in days and repeatedly finding expired and opened dried pasta that has been taped back together. Also once again I was overcharged on two items by double. I know what I saw when I put them in my cart and I really had to think about it before I did. Thinking about it isn’t going to happen anymore. I’m leaving this Kroger for goodness sake and will still shop for a short run but no longer, once again my entire list. After my long hiatus from this store and seeing how it is I am officially done giving to this store. Bye Kroaker.
There is better out there including better Kroger stores. This store doesn’t have to do much because their location is prime and that’s the only way it stays running. Well this time I am running. Everything is pointing politely for me to the door. So to summarize this in a nutshell, if you can shop elsewhere? Do it. I can’t suggest this store for long term...
Read moreI moved to the neighborhood a couple of years ago, and the Goss Ave Kroger replaced my previous store, the Highlands Kroger. I love the Highlands Kroger, they have everything I need, and I knew where everything was. Heck, I even worked there for a couple of years! But this Hipster Kroger is within walking distance of my new house, so I decided to give it a try.
As a single man in his twenties with a stable job, no kids, and a passion for long walks to Kroger to pick up a pizza from the deli, I was a bit nervous about trying my new G-town K-Rog. I grabbed my reusable bags, and began my walk to the new Kroger. I dropped off my bills to be paid by mail, a full week ahead of schedule because I am a single man who understands the importance of keeping my finances in order, and walked in through the double-doors. I've never looked back. Especially not at the Christmas bell-ringing representative, because her particular organization contributes to really negative anti-LGBTQ organizations, and as a single man who is open-minded in all regards, I do not want any part of that.
I must say that I am a huuuge fan of the staff here at La Kroger del Goss. The cheese lady left her cheese stand once to help me find her products' distant cousin, cottage cheese! That's not even in her job description, but she didn't care. There was a customer in need! There's a middle-aged male cashier who is always in the midst of the most pleasant conversation of his life whenever I see him. The nerdy U-scan kid always watches my bags when I realize which item I forgot at the end of my trip. The list goes on. Every member of the staff I see shows either exemplary customer service or ninja-like focus on the task at hand.
This single man who goes to the gym about 4 times a week, holds a steady job, has a close relationship with his family, is loved by the staff at Four Pegs, has no roommates, and is generally in a great place emotionally and spiritually, gives this Kroger Goss a full 5 stars. Thanks Bernard Kroger for such a great experience! You may have died 78 years ago, but your spirit lives on in Germantown! (Coincidentally, Bernard was the 5th of 10 children born to German immigrants, so his spirit should feel right at home in...

Shutdown because of rodents. Reports were made over a year ago about this issue and it finally came to light in June of 2025. Closing for a weekend was only a bandaid. Corporate should do a full overhaul of this location.
When you start to put the hand held baskets back at the main entrance with all the other carts, I will update to a 2 star review. I feel like I’m shopping at Aldi when I have to pull a box from produce just to be able to put my groceries in and carry throughout the store. This location also allows employees to get in the face of customers and berate them before closing. You’re open until 10pm, don’t close the doors early, you all know better. Asked for a pound of meat from the deli. It had an on sale price sticker of $9.99 a lbs. Guy behind the counter got it cut and handed over package with an over $14 sticker price. I asked why the price difference and his response was “I can just throw it away if you don’t want it.” I wanted an answer why there was a price difference, not his attitude. This location needs an entire overhaul! It’s gotten so bad that it’s now worth me driving further to other Kroger locations to get better products and service. When did this Kroger location turn into a Dollar General? Boxes all over the floor in every aisle making it single file for customers. Can’t even get 2 baskets down the aisles. The staff is so rude here! I was in self checkout needing approval for some coupons. The attendant snapped at me and told me I didn’t need to time her. I was actually pausing my music on my watch thank you very much, and she was quick to change her tone when I showed her what I was doing...
