Logan Street Market itself appears like a wonderful place to just walk around and see different things. I will say there was a vendor who was supposed to be closing in about 15 minutes and had everything cleaned up and he wouldn't help me because of that. We had another issue with a gluten free vendor called The Silly Axe. My partner tried calling multiple times and no one answered, not once. The guy at the counter was leaning there on his phone to the back of the booth more. When approached by him he had no idea there was an online order. Maybe that's something that needs to change in the system and prints out or comes onto a screen where the employee can see instead of them having to check the orders periodically. In all reality my mother in law's food said it would be done in roughly 35 minutes. It took a little bit of time to find the place and parking and so we got there a little early. My partner requested deliver to the car when checking out because she has severe allergies and if she would walk into that building she would have to epi pen herself due to allergens in the air. So she gets me to go when she gave up trying to call without any answer. The man didn't even know there was an order. He asked me to come back and still forgot an item. It was over an hour of an experience. My mother in law enjoyed the food though so I suppose it was worth all the hassle of the day. She loved the food and will...
Read moreFor what this is, it's great. From the local businesses to the Wil Hops lounge area. A great spot to support local, grab delicious eats and libations - with a one stop shop. I have supported each vendor atleast once and enjoy our visits to LSM.
To be honest, I wouldn't have provided five stars at first. I took issue with the lack of resources/food options/cost in the Bodega for the surrounding residents. When it first opened, there was one small shelf of food. I also took issue with the lack of accessibility for lower income families. While there are residents that have 400k plus homes in the area, the majority of Smoketown residents are still low income. So, the costs of everything from a $12 sourdough loaf to a $15 lunch (just for the entree) isn't doable for most surrounding neighbors.
I get that LSM wasn't cheap to purchase or remodel. That's why small businesses pay a high rent and in return, the cost for products, food and libations is high.
I would love to see LSM encourage volunteer clean up in the neighborhood, community gardens, free 'salad' gardens and other opportunities that you find at Markets across the country. There is endless opportunity that a market such as this could provide to new business owners, as well as the surrounding community.
I look forward to...
Read moreThe idea of the market is wonderful, but kind of poorly executed. This market is located inside of what was once a wear house. The market is. very open with two levels, the top one only being about 600 sq /ft in total, So only a couple shops as well as a small painting studio, which is pretty cool. The market offers a variety of many speciality markets that are unique. Many bars inside as well. The reason i don't believe it is a full five stars is for a couple reasons. First, there is no designated parking for the market, it is on a busy road. There is a fenced in lot down the street from the market that is blue, matching the building but it is unmarked... so no idea if it is for Logan st Market or not. Second, the Market is mostly just restaurants. When walking around the main floor (floor 1) the primary thing you see is little restaurants and bars, its called a market yet theres hardly any vendors selling goods thats not food.Third, the people who do sell things that aren't food are on the second floor (the tiny space i referenced before) but theres only about three vendors, they all practically sell the same things. It's definitely something to checkout, but don't have high expectations, its maybe a 20...
